If the choice is Eaves or Tootoo that should be a no brainer. Eaves doesnt add anything unique to the lineup.

Samuelsson is the obvious choice to cut but given that will not provide any cap relief I have to think they will waive Eaves. He is no improvement over the current starting roster. Glendening will be returned to GR. That would leave Tatar and Samuelsson up as extras. I do not know how this will address the cap situation. I certainly do not hope Tootoo is in the lineup to showcase him for a trade.

Defense is looking better with Lashoff in the lineup. I hope Smith can step it up.

Red Wings show HEART

Cant give up on Smith yet. But Red Wings need speed and work ethic more than defense in my opinion. Ryan Callahan or Brandon Dubinsky type players.

I hope Babcock keeps the lineup from last game. Didnt notice any mistakes from Lashoff and I think Glendening and Miller together with Tootoo make a great checking/energy line.

Glendening did allright. Was integral on that one key PK.

Somewhat surprised to see Alfredsson moved down a line, if anything I would have anticipated a switch with Abdelkader to add more speed to the second line and let Alfredsson play with the Euros, but then again Bertuzzi has showed some chemistry with Datsyuk before. Third line still looks slow to me. I would have liked to see a third with Tatar, Emmerton and Bertuzzi. I think Emmerton's skating and work ethic could have been a good fit with those two.

In regard to the Filppula vs Weiss debate I think there are important aspects that will not show in the stats. I personally feel that Weiss is an upgrade because he crashes the net while Filppula circled away from the net. This will potentially make a huge difference in the post season when the game is more defensive.

Didnt look very deadly to me vs Boston. Detroit could not even keep it in the zone long enough to establish pressure. Yes it is still early but for how long can you use that excuse?

I wouldnt call it panic but clearly the lack of scoring and poor PP performance lately are starting to look familiar.

Well if the Sens would take Jarnkrok over Sproul I would be happy to comply. Jarnkrok is a good prospect but I dont consider him in the same category as Zibanejad. Although this make you question Zibanejad's attitude a bit, but perhaps there is something else to it that we just dont know about. From what I have seen of him he would be a nice fit with the Red Wings. Big body, good skater and great finisher. But I dont think the Red Wings is very popular with the Sens management right now.

No, there is not enough speed up front. Even Datsyuk is struggling trying to deke through a collapsing defense. First line is okay, but the second is struggling, not to mention the bottom six. Andersson, Cleary, Samuelsson and Bertuzzi are not very quick. Actually Bertuzzi is the only one capable of creating some scoring chances in that group. Babcock must add more speed to the forward group, and especially to the second and third lines. I think Emmerton is probably a better choice as third line center than Andersson because of this.
