Mantha is projected to be picked long before the Red Wings will get a shot at him and if you want to add size, Domi is hardly the way to go.

right only that he is listed at 5'11 185 (compared to Rychel's 6'1 200) and he scored 23 goals (Rychel's coming off consecutive 40 goal seasons). Now I know better than trusting a player profile but Rychel certainly strike me as the more intriguing player of the two...

Definitely trade up to secure the best possible power forward available to us. As stated by others, there's enough depth in the system already. Size and scoring punch is what's missing. If Holland could package the 18th pick and the rights for Filppula to move up one or two picks I would be happy.

This draft indeed looks deep, but take a look at past drafts and you will find top talent from every year that never panned out. It happens in the top three also but rarely do these not make it to the NHL and more often than not they become impact players. If Jones develops into a top flight defenseman as expected it will be pretty difficult to explain why Colorado traded that pick. Nurse for example is a defensive defenseman from what I understand, he is not a two way franchise defenseman like Jones potentially is and every Red Wing fan should know how important those are.

Three top ten picks is still not the same as a first overall pick, especially when a premier defenseman like Jones is available. Colorado is missing a no 1 defenseman badly and Calgary even more so.

Not superhappy to see Miller coming back. I think he is a bit overrated, he tends to be out of positionin his own end and the team played very well without him during the end of the regular season. I would rather see a more physical presence in his spot.

Agreed, there is hope. Although Im not sure I would put Lang in the same category as Hudler here. I think there is a stronger bond with players drafted by the organization.

I do think that Holland will be looking for quite a discount from the rumored $5 M actually. There are no sure bets, but Clarkson is the only player this year worth throwing the bank at. It should give us a decent shot at least. And if it boils down to a financial question, it should be Clarkson > Filppula.

Filppula at $5, 4 or 3 M per season - who cares? After this playoff I'm thinking we are better off without him. Spend the money on someone that can actually help the team. Clarkson for example.
