I'd trade Schneider for Souray straight up. I want no part of Aebischer though.
-
Nevermind, must've been my settings or something. I tried it on another computer and it worked perfectly. Emmerton isn't exactly an intense player, is he? He looked almost disinterested at times. Oh, well it was just a clip. Thanks for the links!

^Didn't work for me.
-
Absolutely not.

Cut loose, yeah that's exactly what should happen in this case. Shanahan clearly hasn't enough motivation left and Detroit shouldn't have room for someone like him. Detroit really need to make some changes in order to progress. Holland has neglected this far too long, even if it turns out these rumors about a $4 M offer is false. This is why people are upset. EDIT: I'm not the Barnes, but I'll answer anyways... In this case, I'd rather pay someone that has something to prove $2 M (Guerin) than pay someone with absolutely nothing to prove $4 M.
-
Maybe Guerin prefered to join his buddies Weight and Tkachuk? Could be anything really. I think you are probably right about Holland overestimating Shanahan though. You always read that Holland was working on some trades at the deadline, the off season etc, but the reason nothing happens is always the asking price. It sure would be interesting to see some of those trade proposals. I get the feeling that Holland's love for his players make him blind. Every team can't be asking for Zetterberg, every time. Surely some day, he should be able to work out a trade, wouldn't you think?
-
This offer could very well be the result of Holland turning desperate after being turned down by other UFA's and being unable to work out a trade.
-
All would have been excellent pick ups, especially Guerin.
-
Let me be the first one to suggest Holland will not be able to keep the intended $2 M reserve against the salary cap in case of injury this year (that's right, not this year either!).
-
No... no... NO! 4 million dollars?! That is absurd.

I say Hudler. -

Howard is not likely to become a starter in years. Rushing goalies is a bad idea. Biron/Osgood this year and Biron/Howard next season sounds good to me. Then perhaps Howard is ready for full time duty in 2008. -
I think Quincey has top 4 potential. Ah yeah, doesn't have to be a problem though. Pair him with someone like Quincey and it should work out.

I'll take Witt, but if given a choice between him and Sarich I'll pick Sarich.

I'll have to change my stance about this years draft. At first I was very disapointed when Detroit traded their first pick, because second rounders are an even bigger gamble than first rounders. However after reading that Detroit considered both Emmerton and Mathias in the first round and then were able to get both in the second it has got to be a good thing. Especially when Mathias draws comparisons to Bell. This Oslund kid seems like a real solid pick at 191 overall.

Which really doesn't make his statement any more credible. If Eklund had any insight in Detroit, he would know Lidstrom will never play for a NHL team other than Detroit. Eklund might have some sort of inside information from time to time, but when it comes to Detroit I find him lacking a fundamental understanding of the teams make up and philosophy. Some of the rumors he is spreading are borderline insanity.

Grier is more physical than Draper, Maltby and Cleary combined. Dump Maltby for a pick.
-
Mike Weber would be an excellent 2nd round pick if still available.
-
He seems to be able to do a little bit of everything and he plays for U of Michigan. I'm thinking he might be avaliable and could be a good fit with Holland's ideology. A possible pick in other words. Sorry, I'm not familiar with Ahnelov at all.
-
Hatch, are you familiar with Mark Mitera?
-
Not that I recall, but I remember that several posters around here including myself, were pulling for him.
-
True, but Detroit would lose some speed. I'd rather trade Maltby, since Grier isn't exactly a speedster.
-
Not sure if there's any room for another checking line player on the Red Wings. Perhaps if Maltby is traded.
-
Makes sense. Which would improve Detroit's chances of signing McKee, in case he decides to test the market. Lidstrom/McKee Kronwall/Sarich Chelios/Lilja/Lebda
