Hey thanks a lot, I've been looking for something like this! I'd go with either Nick Foligno or Jesse Joensuu.
-
No kidding. No more than $5 M, and even that is stretching it. Defense is in demand though.
-
He changed his game in the Western conference. How much is he asking for? All his injuries make him a bit of a gamble, should lower his pricetag a bit.
-
I hear you. Holland will focus on the goalie issue no question. That is pretty much a fact, since Legace was let go. I hope he can at least sign/trade for a defensive defenseman if Detroit gets Luongo. Preferably Sarich. Luongo, Sarich, Bootland and Kopecky would be great additions in my opinion.
-
Oh I loved Jovanovski when he was more of a defensive defenseman back in Florida. He used his body a lot more then.
-
I've kept my eye on O'Brien for a while now. He is an interesting prospect indeed. From what I've heard he is ready to make the jump. I think Detroit needs a new goalie. Howard simply isn't ready yet. Luongo would be great, but if Kenny decides to upgrade the defense I think Biron would do fine. I feel confident that Witt will stay in Nashville, but I'm a huge fan of Sarich's. I'm also certain that Detroit will take a long hard look at Salei. I'm all for a Bootland/Kopecky/Franzen line next season!
-
Hatch, what do you think of O'Brian's potential? Sarich/Mitchell/Witt type?
-
No need to trade for Salei, he is UFA. I'd do Datsyuk, Liv and pick for Giguere, O'Brian and Penner. Not sure if Burke would, probably not.
-
Salei will get a long hard look from Detroit. I'd be surprised if they didn't sign him. Dumping Schneider would be nice, then Detroit could afford Sarich as well.
-
Coliacovo is pretty good, no?

I'm thinking Nick Foligno, if still available.
-
Ericsson is GR bound though.
-
1. To get rid of his salary. 2. Because they're deep at centre but in need of wingers. Trading Lang would free up a spot. I'd prefer to trade Datsyuk, but trading Lang might be slightly more realistic.
-
That could be one way to describe his game. I've only seen him a couple of times and I can't say he did much to stand out. He should be a decent skater for a man his size, that's his shot.

Hakan Andersson said a couple of weeks ago that neither of Jamtin or Tolsa would be signed this season. The fact that Jamtin signed for another year in HV-71, as stated in the link of the original post seem to confirm this. This means that Tolsa will be a free agent. I heard he signed in Finland, but this is still unconfirmed. Ericsson will participate in training camp in Detroit before heading off to GR.

Liv likely to jump the pond, but not Grigorenko

The rumor on Liv going to Russia was shot down a week ago. He's got a kid coming and there's no way he'll move to Russia with that in mind. It will be Sweden or the US for Liv. -
I don't see it happening right now, but you never know...
-
He's not ready for the NHL, not even close. Fairly physical though.
-
I hate when that happens. Players gotta know their strengths!

I just don't see Kopecky being physical in the NHL. If paired with Datsyuk, I'm afraid he'd consider himself a superstar once again. I'm under the impression that Kopecky is a copycat. He pretty much plays the same style his linemates do. Give me Bootland! -
Yeah, he should be fun to watch. From what I've heard, he hits everything that moves...

He's from a different hockey culture above all else. Players don't fight much in Europe. It's not a part of hockey at all, nothing like the way it is in North America. Jamtin is a in-your-face type of player. He works hard and he fights occasionally, but understand this, the reason he has earned a reputation as a "tough guy" or whatever has got more to do with the brand of European hockey than anything else. He would be destroyed by someone like Chris Neil, perhaps even by Steve Ott. These players have learned the ropes of fighting from the beginning as a natural part of hockey and a natural part of competing for a spot on the team. The situation in Europe and especially Sweden is very different. The best way to demonstrate this is the fact that Dan Boyle stood up for his teammates when playing in the SEL and he didn't embarrass himself. Dan Boyle!

Jamtin is a Maltby type of player. Nothing more. He can never be expected to take a similar role like the one McCarty had, never.
