So give him the sixth spot. Lebda can easily be sent down. Chelios will need a rest once in a while too.
-
Some of the most one sided trade proposals I've ever seen.
-
He's better than Woolley for sure.
-
They're starved for action that's why. Point is JLA is a quiet place compared to many other arenas. Bootland would help get the audience into the game, not only by dropping the gloves but by hitting and stirring things up.
-
Bootland's feisty game will draw more cheers from the JLA crowd than all the other players combined. The Red Wings really should think about getting the audience into the game!
-
He's wrong about Detroit not needing someone like him though, because they do.
-
Maybe their new coach doesn't like him. Could be anything really.
-
Hmm, I'd be willing to take a chance on him if the price is right. No more than a fourth round pick. Too bad Kenny traded that one.
-
I strongly suspect that his stats look better than he actually is. A benefit of playing for the defensive minded Wild. I could be wrong though. I'd prefer Roloson.
-
I don't expect something big to happen, but since we're speculating, here are some defensemen I think Kenny might consider: Kuba Salei Kalinin Carney Weinrich Jillson No big names, but like I said I only expect a minor deal to fill that last defense spot. Holland might give players like Witt, Mitchell or Komisarek a look but I doubt he's willing to pay the price. Personally I wouldn't mind Vandermeer, but that seems highly unlikely, given the Red Wings/Blackhawks fan rivalry. Any comments? Other names?
-
Still, if they're willing to trade Doan they will do a whole lot better than Lang.
-
Kenny will have to make a move for a defenseman. He'll probably fall back on his usual strategy of trading draft picks. Everybody already knows Holland won't trade someone off the roster. He's too sentimental for that. When is Detroit gonna get a GM with the balls to make some actual changes?
-
I wouldn't trade Datsyuk for him strait up, let alone throwing in Hudler. I really like Doan, but Datsyuk and Zetterberg are the future, and the thought of breaking up such great chemistry and youth, is unbearable to me. Let's wait until the playoffs and see what Dats and Zetts do. I think if Datsyuk performes like he did for his Russian team in the playoffs overseas last year, rather than how he did for us last playoffs, people might change their opinions on trading him. Sorry but I don't like it at all. And what if he don't? It might be too late...
-
Gretzky wouldn't think twice about Lang and Hudler. Forget it people, you can't expect to trade leftovers for other teams top players. Why would the Coyotes trade their captain and powerforward for a 35 year old and a undersized prospect? That would be awfully short sighted. You must be prepared to give something up to get something and Doan is in my opinion more useful to Detroit than Datsyuk. Once Shanahan is gone, there will be nobody to take his place.
-
That would not be the same person since "cheap" and "seller's market" rules out the other. I made the "seller's maket" comment in response to those who believe Witt will come cheap. He will not. For the very reasons you have stated above. The Caps can shop him around for the best offer and the interest will be great.
-
Sounds like Bootland has regained his confidence. I'd really like to give him a try with the big club now.
-
I'll support you on this one. If I could get a early pick from the Coyotes I'd even consider Datsyuk and Grigorenko, if that is what it would take. Doan would be invaluable to a team like Detroit.
-
Agreed. Use the $$$ to sign Roloson (or similar) and a couple of solid defensemen instead. With a few exceptions, I don't think it's wise to spend big money on a single player in the "new" NHL. It's too big of a risk, especially with goalies. Depth is the way to go!
-
Forget him then. He'll cost no less than a player + 2nd/3rd pick. Junk or not. It's a seller's market. Mowers and Rivers are useless to the Caps. They've got a ton of players better than those.
-
I'd ride the Big line a little longer. Once it cools off, spread the wealth. Could be a useful weapon later on.
-
Thanks Hatcher#2, I hope he's got what it takes to stick around.
-
GR seems to try a lot of big bodies, but they never seem to stick around for very long. What's the deal on Charpentier and Jorde?
-
That's good. Seemed like the typical Holland solution otherwise.
