I wouldn't mind Biron, since he's got more upside than Osgood but I'll pass big time on Numminen.
-
Yeah, he's a local boy. Born in Pittsburgh.
-
He's trying to say that FM isn't necessarily an indication of playing a physical brand of hockey. Bootland does however play physical hockey.

I can't imagine it being much more than the writers personal opinion. Management would never publish such a list I think. I think these lists generally put too much emphasis on pure talent like skating, puck handling and best case scenarios and not enough on actual probability to make the NHL, style of play and determination. Bootland would definitely be higher on such a list.

The Pens are probably showcasing him.

If Weight is traded for equal salary..the Blues probably are significantly better right there. In that trade the Blues would likely be looking for any or all of: a defenseman, a goalie, as well as someone to replace Weight up front. Perhaps they will try and trade Weight for Kolzig and Witt?? Witt wants to play for a contender and I don't see Kolzig going anywhere. He's been real solid for them this season. Who cares what Witt wants? If I was Washington, I would trade him to a WORSE team. He has not shown that he deserves to be traded to a contender on request...considering people didn't feel star center Eric Lindros deserved to be traded where he wanted when he WASN'T being used by his current team, why should mediocre defenseman Brendan Witt? Because in this case, a realistic destination might be the one you want for him? I think any recieving team in the deal would care a great deal if Witt shows up or not! I also think that a contending team or at the very least a playoff team would be willing to pay more for Witt's services than a team like the Blues. Not to mention they'd probably get a lot more out of him on the ice. I think the Blues would be a solid team if they dealt Weight for Witt and Kolzig. They would have much better goaltending, improved defense, and wouldn't be losing a lot at forward because Tkachuk is due back soon, and he's better than Weight. Imagine...if they traded Weight as Tkachuk came back, they'd be making significant improvements up front, on D, and in net. I guess I agree with you, but I don't see a Weight for Witt and Kolzig deal happen. For so many reasons.

no, but a consistent healthy scratch on the worst team in the league means he's not quite that good, at least not right now. I would probably deal Mowers or Lilja for him, maybe both. But I would not give anywhere near what he was worth in 03-04, considering he's two years older and there's no way to know if he'll ever return to his 03-04 form. Malone's struggling, no doubt. He is certainly gonna fetch more than Mowers or Lilja though. Mainly because those two have done absolutely nothing lately and therefor have virtually no trade value, but also because Malone is a 6'4, 215 lb forward with solid defensive skills and top six potential. Any team would be interested in that. As proven by the Senators bid of Hamel and a 2nd round pick (if true). Detroit would be wise to get rid of Lang, move Zetterberg to center permanently and trade for Malone in my opinion. It's never that easy of course, but I'm pretty confident they wouldn't regret it. I'd be willing to put a similar package together as the Senators including a player + pick. Maybe Lebda and a 2nd/3rd rounder. I think that would be a better offer for the Pens, considering their weak defense, and yet affordable for Detroit.

BS rumor. Detroit is deep at centre already.
-
That's right.

So a player can't be good if he's on the trading blocks?! I see this argument all the time. Frankly, it boggles my mind. The reason you trade for someone is usually because that player addresses a current need on your team or perhaps that you can utilize the player better than his current club, not because he's freaking untouchable! Naslund, Kipprusoff or Draper, anyone?
-
You'd like him the second he'd step on the ice wearing the winged wheel and you'd love him after seeing him stand up for his teammates. Lang for Jackman would be a great deal for Detroit, but St. Louis don't get much out of it. Not even if Weight is traded, which he probably will be.

next seasons free agent signing priority #1

Norstrom has got so much heart, but that's also the reason I don't see him going anywhere. He's extremely loyal. It's already been pointed out that he chose to help his former team in the lower ranks during the lockout rather than making money. I bet he wants to win a Cup real bad, but I'm not convinced the Red Wings is that much better of an alternative in his eyes. Guess it depends on what happens in the off season. I'm all for Witt, McKee or Mitchell though! Don't forget Boynton. -
Lang to Boston for Boynton? That would be sweet. Just make sure to re-sign Boynton before he hits the UFA market.
-
I knew someone would say that, but there's been a lot of players with even less probability to make it. He could have had a more diversified drafting strategy for sure.
-
You don't find those guys among free agents. You'd have to draft a guy like that and Kenny is too busy drafting long shot players in Europe to waste a pick on someone like that.
-
Lang trade happened February 27th, trading deadline was March 9th.
-
Pass on Fernandez. His stats are good right now, but he's not solid enough.
-
at that second video! Jorde looks like a tough kid though! About time the Griffins added some more muscle. I hope he stays around.

Spector: Turco may sign with Detroit this summer

Goalies usually need at least 4 years in the NHL to reach their potential. I doubt we'll see much of Howard before 2008. -

Turco would be sweet if the team remains competitive. -
Kenny should have drafted Blunden from the start like I said.
