Liv is off to a great start this year, which historically means he will suck next season... I happened to catch an interview with him a few months ago, in which he said that he's in better shape now than ever before. He also said that Detroit is his favorite team in the NHL and that it's still a dream of his to play in the NHL. He must secure a top three spot on the Swedish Olympic team and earn the starting job (depending on Lundquist and the Rangers) at the World Championships later on to even get a shot at a contract with the Red Wings IMO. He's getting up there in age and Howard is simply a much better prospect. Frankly, McDonald is probably more suited for the NHL as well.

When they had Hossa sure, but with him gone I doubt it's the case anymore.
-
That's the whole point. How many would have guessed Tampa Bay last season? Philadelphia has the talent for sure, just need to get it together. The big question mark is Esche.
-
I say the Flyers. They'll be ready come the post season. Ottawa looks pretty good too. If Hasek can stay healthy and alert, they've got a shot as well.

bite me, don't like it don't read it. How do you know if you like it, before reading it?

Witt is hardly a journeyman. He's a solid defensive defenseman, stuck on a poor team.
-
The Canucks would be wise to pass on Arnason. They already have Carter, no need for another player with a poor attitude.
-
Despite showing some progress this season I still don't think Hudler will make it to the NHL fulltime. Filppula however will.

Hackert played in the Griffins season opener, collecting 2 PIM.

^ but Florida are?
-
Yeah, but from the reports I've read Barnes seemed to score on a consistant basis.

So the Kenny Holland disease strikes again!
-
Sweet. They try real hard to keep him off the roster every year but he still comes back for another season.
-
^ I have no idea.

uh I don't think so. I think Sundin has far more of a shot than Anton. Reason why? Our main swedish scout is a fan, and Holland listens and trusts him. Hakan Andersson is a fan of every Swede the Red Wings drafts. I haven't heard of Sundin in a long time. I doubt he'll ever pan out -he played in the Swedish second tier last year and probably this season as well. Tomas Kollar is a better name. He plays a feisty game. I'd have to agree that Axelsson is ahead of them both.

Barnes is dominating on a line with Big Snake. 3 pts last night. http://www.griffinshockey.com/newsroom/news/?id=3857

No Barnes eh?
-
I heard he was invited to camp, but I also heard he may be playing in the UK this fall. Yeah, lets hope he stays away from the UK. That would most likely put a stop to any chances of playing AHL hockey again.
-
Okay, Barnesy good info. Any news on Barnes yet? He seemed to play well under Ireland. I hope Ireland's plan includes Barnes.
-
Never heard of... well at least he is BIG.

How can you compare drafting by playoff success when Detroit has had twice the payroll? Red Wings drafting in 89-94 is drastically different from Red Wings drafting in 94-99. What if you compare five randomly chosen years, who's had the most players make it to the NHL? Just because Osgood is the only decent Red Wing from the WHL doesn't necessarily mean anything. Detroit may draft less from the WHL than other leagues. Note: Detroit drafted 3 WHL players in this years draft. The last time they drafted that many were in 98. Detroit selected Brent Hobday, Jeremy Goetzinger and Petja Pietilainen. RWC: Wings go West

http://www.allsports.com/nhl/redwings/stor...etroitCamp.html The Detroit Red Wings Training Camp Roster includes some interesting names like Big Snake (tryout), Bootland, Ellis, Haskins, Herring (tryout), B Jarret (tryout), Amadio, Kindl, May, Quincey and Stamler. Granted most prospects are not even close to playing in the NHL or even the AHL, but still looks like an improvement over the last few years from a physical standpoint in my opinion. Thoughts?
