No... Chelios 850k Williams 450k Datsyuk 2.5 Zetterberg 2.5 6.3m no way that would ever happen What I heard a few days ago is that the salary is not the issue, it's the contract length, and that Datsyuk wants 2.5 for two years, while Holland wants to get 3 or 4. Zetterberg shouldn't be paid more than Dats (He's been in the league a shorter time and has not posted the numbers Datsyuk has.), so 2.5 is the most he'd get. I think Zetterberg will command at least 500K less than Datsyuk. Rightfully so.

I don't know if you watched any of the games but the 18 skaters did everything in their power to lose that series. Brutal is the only way to describe it and I've used that term often with regards to the 1st round vs the Sharks. But then again it begs the question, you don't think Osgood could have done a bit better for himself playing behind Tampa's team? The Bolts elevated their play for the playoffs and the Blues dropped off precipitously and it wasn't Osgood's doing. And yes the cat is now out of the bag. Goalie A is Chris Osgood playing behind St. Louis. Goalie B is Nikolai Khabibulin playing behind Tampa Bay. peace Sorry if I ruined the fun. It was a nice setup. I'm pretty sure Osgood would have done better for himself on Tampa Bay, but I'm also pretty sure that Tampa Bay wouldn't have won a Stanley Cup with Osgood in the net. Sure there's no way I can prove this, but call it an educated guess. This only proves that the regular season is not the time to evaluate a goalie. What makes a goalie elite is his ability to perform when the stakes are high and the pressure is ON! I don't think Osgood has got what it takes anymore, despite him having won before.

Let's try the playoffs, shall we? Goalie A 5 1 4 0 109 12 2.51 97 .890 0 Goalie B 23 16 7 0 598 40 1.71 558 .933 5

Detroit should go and fetch Gratton before anybody else does.

Then why is it that every team is loading up on enforcers this off season. The third period instigator suspension rule isn't really new. There's been a similar rule for at least a couple of seasons, but with a fine. None the less it's a stupid rule.

I'm happy they kept Bootland and released Robinson. Although anything else would have been unacceptable. Robinson had speed, but he was up to no good.

favorite wing never to win the cup in Detroit

Are you serious?! Quincey would be a huge loss. He's a 6'2" Northamerican defenseman that can hit. That's one of a kind among Detroit prospects. He was also the last one cut from the Canadian junior team at the 2004 WJC.

1. Holmquist is way better than Liv 2. I think and Neil has said something along the lines of this a few times as well, that what more does Liv have to prove in the Swedish League? He's won many titles there, hes done his job and done it well. What more is there to do? simple. AHL Ya hes in his 20s your upset hes not turning into the soild goalie he was projected to be? sh*t happens man, doesn't mean hes done. 1. Holmquist or do you mean Lundquist? 2. I'm not upset at all. I'm just saying you guys expect too much from him. He's really not a top prospect anymore. He's got plenty to prove on the Nat. team, but he didn't.
-
^ No, I think he's right on. It's kinda now or never for Liv. It's already been mentioned that Liv has regressed slightly and that management wants him to step up. He lost the starting job to Rangers prospect Lundquist at the 2004 World Championships and he was cut from the World Cup team later that year. He only shared backup responsibilities with Holmquist during this years World Championships (Holmquist played two periods, Liv none). I rank both Howard and McDonald ahead of Liv who will turn 25 in December. If he doesn't come this year, I'll take it as a sign that he will remain in Sweden throughout his career.
-
Khabibulin/McDonald is the best from both worlds, Stanley Cup contender and re-building in one. I'm just worried what resources signing Khabibulin would leave us with for the rest of the team. Not much I'm afraid.

If Detroit has the room (i.e Hatcher's bought out) they'll probably go after Zhitnik. They've been after him before.

A guy from Australia recently showed me a DVD from last year's final. Aussie Rules is not for the timid.
-
He might do Bertuzzi for Fedorov straight up.
-
Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Fischer or Kronwall. One of them would definitely be part of a Bertuzzi deal. Which is why it probably won't happen.
-
Naslund will not stay in Sweden. If he stays with Vancouver is a different matter though. Sure, I'd be interested in bringing Bertuzzi to Detroit. The Canucks will be looking for a much better deal than Whitney, Hudler and McCarty though.
-
Yeah, probably a little late to trade him now.
-
Kollar isn't too bad, but he's a longshot.

Jamtin will play in Finland next season. you sure? i mean im not tryin to be an ass er anything its just that i thought management thought it was time to bring him over? Yeah I'm sure. He signed a contract after the playoffs. I haven't heard anything about management wanting to bring him over. He's not ready for the NHL or the AHL yet. Maybe next year. I think Robinson is a goner. He had an extremely disappointing first half and his attitude has been questioned.
-
Hakan Andersson, scout extraordinaire Funny, I thought he'd say "it would be nice to have a first round pick once in a while". A top ten pick would be sweet though.
-
I doubt that he can become a second liner, but you just never know. He scored 30 pts the season before this last, which is pretty good in the SEL. For comparison Holmstrom never scored more than 28 (but in 9 fewer games) before he left for Detroit. Although that was 10 years ago... Swedish players also has a tendency to develop late. Franzen is already 25 though. My guess, third liner.
-
Here it is in black and white, but you guys already knew this. Link in Swedish Quick translation of points of interest: Detroit won't wait. Johan Franzen is ready to play in the NHL this fall according to Hakan Andersson. -He is ready and I believe that he can develop further over there. Johan has great potential, says Hakan Andersson. Secret list. Franzen is mentioned on the secret list of players that Detroit wants to sign for the next season. -Now it's all about waiting till the conflict ends. Until then there's nothing we can do. I've talked to people in Northamerica and there will probably be a positive decision soon, says Hakan Andersson. -Then naturally Johan must want to go, but I've talked to him earlier about this and he's been positive.
