Did you know that Ekblad is the first defenseman to be granted exceptional status and compete in the CHL a year before eligable age. Tavares was given the same status in 2005. Zetterberg has a few more season's in him at most, if his back will not force him into early retirement, that is.

I'd do it, and I dont think it would be very crazy. Zetterberg is nearing the end of his career and Ekblad is a possible franchise defenseman.

I must agree with you on this one. Ekblad would be worth the risk. I'd be willing to trade Dekeyser and two first rounders. Losing Dekeyser would suck but the first overall is not going to be cheap.

I wouldnt worry to much, I think Holland will sign Boyle for a reasonable price but way too many years rather than sign Niskanen.

Richards, Carter and Williams all drafted and played for Philadelphia. Some team they could have had. -
you were the one talking about 25%, but it doesnt matter. Legwand played in a much more controlled environment during his career. Again he is not as talented offensively as Spezza but I doubt he would get 5M from anyone and might even give a little hometown discount. Now Kesler is a much more interesting option than both.

Yes, no doubt Spezza would be an upgrade but we are talking about maybe 15-20 points and 3 years younger for a guy that can only be aquired through trade. Had Spezza been known to crash the net and make more use of his size, then I wouldnt hesitate one bit, but if you are looking for production Legwand offers very similar qualities for a fraction of the price imo.

Might as well sign Legwand without trading any assets. Spezza produces slightly more offense but the physical upgrade is not great.

So, basically if you dont produce points you are overpaid? Pretty lame if you ask me. Orr is not signed to produce points. By the same standard someone like Glendening would also be overpaid had he made more than a million a year. I would expect more in depth analysis from THN in an article on this topic. -

Babcock should have the team look at the powerplays of this series. The defensemen launches rocket one timers on goal every chance they get. It takes forever for any Red Wing defenseman to get a shot off. -
I wouldnt mind Letang. Not sure how he has looked after returning from injury?

I watched the game yesterday and the announcer's mentioned that Holland said Mantha would join the Griffins if they outlast Val'd Or. Not sure if this means Mantha will be playing though.

Ekblad did well in juniors. I'd be happy to trade Nyquist for the first pick. Florida would make a huge mistake to trade for Yakupov, he is poison. -
Dandenault only played 4 games with Adirondack in 1995-96. QMJHL product...

I pretty much agree with everything you say here except maybe Legwand. At times, when he was not burried on the fourth line he was our most physical forward. He skated to the net and could actually use his body to protect the puck. If all the others leave, he could still have a spot on the team I think. -

Tatar and Nyquist have been complete no shows in this series. Quincey on the other hand has been pretty good I think. He is +/- 0 and third in ice time among defensemen after Kronwall and Dekeyser. Kronwall is even and Dekeyser is -1. -
