The Red Wings did a good job, but the Isles looked very flat for most of the game. Good thing the PP was working because without those timely goals the Isles could have worked themselves into the game. The score was close for most of the game.

Gustavsson started for the Griffins yesterday in a 4-0 loss to Milwaukee.

How typical for management to just mess something up totally. Under 23 NA team and an All Star Euro team?! Who cares?? I do like the idea of making the event a series of games though. Seeing Sweden take on Finland or the US take on Canada for a best of three etc sounds great. It should be the same format throughout the playoffs though, and not change from the quarterfinals, the semis and finals.

WC is still lightyears ahead of the All Star Game but it should only be one outdoor game a year.

Mixed Feelings - Shea Weber whoops Matt Cooke

Nice to see a captain show some emotions on the ice. I like Weber, he is the prototypical defenseman imo. -
First Howard gives them a goal and then Ericsson almost gives them a second...

Oh man.

Yes I did, it appears Babcock needs to have a player in the doghouse at all time to make a point to the rest of the team. I think Weiss' play of late should earn him more ice time, I hope he can suck it up for a while longer. Jurco is a better fit for the fourth line. Weiss and Sheahan should split second line center duties imo. That is where he is needed.

I like De La Rose on team Sweden, great size, hands and leadership. Too bad he's a Habs pick.

It wasnt a dirty hit on Weiss.

Late hit and no reaction from the Wings.

You cannot get rid of all veterans. Someone has to teach the kids how it works.

yes, the team seemed so intent to shoot high glove side that they forgot there is a lot more net to aim at elsewhere. They even went backhand rather than forehand to get it up there. -

3 on 3, really?? I dont get this obsession to decide every single regulation game. I said many many years ago before the introduction of shootouts that it was a terrible idea. They had already tried it in Sweden and abandoned it. 5 on 5, 4 on 4 and now 3 on 3? Why not make it 1 on 1 because that is where we are headed. Or, here is an idea, maybe we could just leave it a tie? Maybe teams wouldnt sit back and just wait to secure a loser point for half a period... -
I think Weiss still had plenty of supporters around here.

Yes, Jurco has done well on the fourth line. Love that he is not the type of player that will disappear on a checking line, like for example Hudler. That versatility will be an asset to both him and the team.

Your lines are fine but I dont think Babcock will break up Sheahan and Tatar suddenly, after pairing them for most of the season. This is why I want to keep the Weiss, Helm and Datsyuk line for at least a few more shifts. If that line is succesful, it will give us three solid scoring lines (and a checking line). Abdelkader can play with Sheahan/Tatar and I'm fine with Jurco on the fourth. -

I think rolling three lines gives the team some much needed depth. I dont view Sheahan, Tatar and Jurco as a legitimate NHL second line, more like a third. I also dont think Jurco belongs in a top six role in the NHL yet. On the other hand I dont think he needs to play top six to develop at NHL level. -

Maybe so, but still, no reason not to give them another chance. It is like a hot goalie, you ride him till the streak ends. Jurco did fine on the fourth line. -

It would be dumb to break up the Helm, Datsyuk and Weiss line after their performance vs the Flyers the other night. -

While I agree that it is never a good idea to let parents handle your money, there are cases where athletes have been screwed by "professionals" too. Bobby Orr for example who was one of many players represented by Alan Eagleson. Dave Semenko also thought his earnings were handled by a pro.

I'm not a huge fan of any of the people involved in Red Wings broadcasts. Not Redmond, not Osgood and certainly not Eliot. Bring in McCarty!
