i think the boos are getting to Hossa. he looks awefully tentative and slow

why did cleary stop that puck???

Guerin won a Cup with the Devils in 95...

I was all about CBC... but their continuous negativity regarding the Red Wings is a huge turn-off. Hate us if you will, but these Networks really ought to at least try and sell the game, no matter who is winning. Also, with Bob Cole out, we are stuck with the drole, monotone playcalling. this might as well be curling. z-zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Babcock's son (in an excerpted quote in today's Windsor Star) says Pavel can "hardly walk". Coach Babcock did say Datsyuk is working very hard to get back.
-
Hudler has indeed been very disappointing. Leino on that fourth line has been huge!
-
Helm is da man!! give this guy some open ice, lookout!

the sad part is, the Pens really aren't a goon-em-up team. Perhaps special teams won't be so critical in this series??
-
Ahead of ourselves?? these are the Cup Finals... exactly whats left?? Our Bear-huntin headcoach shouldve entered Game 1 full bore *if possible*... and rested player(s) in Game 2 if these Pens were indeed pushovers. As a diehard Wings' fan I'll support the team no matter what... but I guess what I don't understand is the need for all this media-spindoctoring regarding our injuries. Will the Pens vastly change their game plan if Datsyuk is playing??
-
This affirms our big fears... No way does dats sit out this first game unless he is *significantly* hurt. How much could he possibly improve before Sunday's Game 2?? If anything, he shouldve been slotted for Game 1 and sat out Game 2 if it simply was a conditioning issue. This all probably means Dats is out for the rest of the Playoffs. What is the deal with all the secrecy over this?? Was this all done to satiate the bookies???
-
True, dat. No one here wants to underestimate the Pens given their experience from last year. Logistically, the Pens are hardly intimidating defensively. On paper, a *healthy* Wings squad should eat those kind of opponents for lunch. We all shall soon see.

I love how Parker's "gut feeling" fails to point out any specific holes in the Red Wings' game. Is this subtle hedging?
-
what the heck is the league trying to do?? why not just make it a doubleheader on Saturday?! what a joke.
-
Jennifer Choi simply needs to send a crew to the corner of Washington and Jefferson Ave just before game-time. She'll find more than an ample number of Windsor fans being dropped off by the stream of Windsor Transit buses.

we can speculate all we want... but does Hossa really look like he's playing for a contract?? Sure he's picked up his play as of late... but Hossa looks awefully smug with his role even in his lean playoff games. Heck, his linemates are continually juggled. Hossa looks like a guy quietly confident that his long-term future is locked up, if you asked me.

Not So Fast: Sergei will be exploring his options on the trip to Russi
Grim replied to Rocket Queen 30's topic in General
Sergei would be huge if he came back... especially at D. But if he indeed were looking for something in the neighbourhood of $4m per... good luck with that. -
i have tremendous respect for Ohlund... but do the Wings really have room for another offensive D-man?? If they add anything on D at all, I hope its for a tough, veteran, stay-home *low-cost* type.
-
cool beans. I wasn't impressed by the Penguins in any of the Cup final games last year. Having said that, we have no clue how resilient the Pens have grown over the past year. We all shall soon see.
-
Therein lies the caveat. The Wings were lucky enough to taste Cup success... before having to pay all their pipers. Teams like Pittsburg have done well to lock up Crosby and Malkin. The worries come when all the bit-players want their paydays. The worst fate is to end up like Ottawa or Vancouver... gobs of talent that might end up lost before their Cup window is closed.
-
Wings better finish this in 5... more days off wouldve been great, but an extra game or two could be disasterous if someone vital gets hurt. Them Pens sure look good... they carved up a decent defensive Canes team.
-
oh, its on like Donkey Kong!!
-
Canes are outmatched. Pens have this one in the bag

RIP Peter Zezel... Link Condolences to the family.

I thought Quinn left the profession due to health concerns??

They should cease the practice of awarding the Conn Smythe to a non-winner immediately. To have a post-Cup parade without the team's MVP present and recognized is an utter abomination. Whats next... a Conn Smythe winner from a non-Cup final participant?? The voters should democratically pick their winner, and the top vote-getter belonging to the winning team gets the nod regardless.
