the Ducks are done, stick a fork in them. serves them right for trading Moen and Huskins within their own division. with all their toughness, I am amazed the Ducks sent no widebodies to screen Nabby.
-
the Ducks have no offensive skill. from what i see in this game, the ducks wont shoot unless they are less than a foot from the net.

I don't see why the Wings have to appease any particular group... they are what they are, which is a finesse team. adding a thug who will see 5 mins of icetime will not make this team tough.

The Mule is worth $4M to the Wings... his Cap Number will come down if they offer a monster terms. I'm thinking $20M over 5 years but stretched to 6 years, structured heavily front-loaded ala Z, Cap hit of 3.3 per. Hossa should get double Mule's offer at the same term length; $40M over 6 frontloaded, cap hit of 6.7 per. Datsyuk's cap hit is the new ceiling for this team (after next season).

Ericsson is a collosal beast... he absolutely dwarves Franzen! He doesn't look lost or out of step. Lets hope Ericsson keeps sharp, so if the call comes during the playoffs he can answer the bell!

I was hoping for more help on D. judging by the ridiculous amount it took to land Derek Morris... I am very glad Kenny didn't pull the trigger on that type of trade.

Looks like the Red Wings & the Sharks battling off the ice, Robert

lets not skew reality here... last year we all thought the Wings had secondary scoring issues (after ZDH line). who woulda thunk it that Franzen, Sammi and Helm would all produce as well as they did. Stuart was a well-needed addition but wasn't the target we were all pining for. -

edit: tsn sez Pascal Leclair + Second round pick to Ottawa for Antoine Vermette

sportsnet is saying filip kuba signs an extension to stay in Ottawa. Edit: purpotedly a three year deal.

Fer goodness sakes, let Hossa rest up... at least until the weekend if not longer. We need that guy rolling come playoff time. Call up Leino!

ok... from what I understood reading off tsn.ca, the Rangers are on the hook for half of Avery's $4M salary for the remaining 3 years of his contract. nhlnumbers.com still has a 1.552 cap number for Avery on the Stars. I wonder if they too must carry this cap number for the remainder of that contract. I thought Avery's cap number was off the books when he first cleared waivers?? if so, what in the world was their incentive to bring him back on re-entry waivers??
-
Re-entry waivers are soo confusing. What will Avery's cap number be next season???

this is one glaring reason why Kenny will add a defenseman before tomorrow's deadline

why don't you Neil-slappies speak bluntly... you want him to take Kopecky's spot. good luck.... Kopecky=Sammie 07-08 (ie the guy who could do no wrong in Babcock's eyes). -
Brendan Morrison, Gary Roberts and Miroslav Satan all waived

who defines whether a player reaches re-entry waivers?? -

Wings needs help, not injured 4th line baggage. -

why? so he can be a healthy scratch?? -
I share your sentiment! If it is indeed long-term... it just might be enough to go out and invest in a Hossa jersey...
-
At first I pondered Kenny just may have had a deal (in principle) for Hossa for a while now... just delaying the announcement as to not deflate Franzen and/or Hudler. Now I'm thinking the announcement timing might be appropos... as morale insurance in case Kenny picks nothing up by Wednesday's deadline.

we all knew this needed to be done... now the bigger question: at what Cap figure and what terms???
