I agree with Swede40... why should the Kings give up anything?? They might as well ride out this season and sign Gaborik as a free agent in the summer.

Z's extension will only affect future cap numbers, am I right? Barring long-term injury to a big money forward (knock-on-wood), I can't see Kenny adding another forward before the deadline. If we got room, its got to be for a rental defenseman.

the only way Sundin ends up with a Contender is if he signs with the Leafs and he accepts a trade at the deadline. You can bet thats what GMs like Burkie and Sather are talking to Mats about. -
Strachan was just talkin out of his arse... some here should realize the real folks in the D are thicker-skinned and not easily phased by such nonsense. sure the area and the Big-3 are hurting... what else is new? we've been getting bashed for years, decades even. but what does any of that have to do with hockey?? what if Tim Hortons goes under... does Canada lose all their teams? nonsense.

Babs seems to have trouble stemming the tide on long funks... we had a particularly bad one last season. He also has his favorites which can do no wrong *ahem* Sammy and Lebda.

Being disciplined is one thing, but for an agitator to pick & choose their fights is truly classless. I can't see how any Dallas fan can walk away from last nights game proud of their team's character. Ott and Avery are weasels.

the point is all moot. the decision whether #91 (or any other number) is retired rests solely on Ilitch's discretiion. there really is no rhyme nor reason to the process (nor should there ever be). That being said, we'll probably see Chelios's number up there one day soon. the guy just keep comin back, working for peanuts.

sometimes you gotta send down talent simply because you can... heaven forbid that injury opens up a roster spot (knock on wood). Its always good to have extra talent available if needed, even if they are NHL-ready.

so much for that purpoted "Bone Bruise"... Cheli, as much as we all love him, should really start thinkin about hanging up his skates. He's no spring chicken... six weeks is awefully tough for even young guys to bounce back from. it also kills a precious roster spot for someone else deserving.

Ozzie has always been a stellar regular season goalie... last Spring he played out of his gourd! If he runs into trouble this playoff run it will surely be due to something physical, not mental. The guy has just about done it all. I hope Conklin gets some serious burn this season... we need Ozzie fresh and healthy come playoff time!

I wonder if the Leafs' $7.5M offer to their longtime captain is genuine... or is it just a ploy for him to sign so he could be an asset in trade? Mats is holding out for that NMC folks... why won't the media spin this?
