Ken Holland's HNIC intermission interview (@vancouver) was kinda unsettling... he did hint that he wasn't terribly looking forward to rentals, but would make a deal if it was there. KH mentioned no teams or names, but the HNIC guys were interjecting with Sundin's name. Holland did, however, seem to emphasize that the Wings were in rebuilding mode since Yzerman's departure. Could this mean Kenny's got his eyes on something larger than a rental?? Sorry... an unextended Hossa is undeniably a rental.

well, if there are teams looking to dump salary and Kenny is prepared to eat max contracts... i wish Kenny would look at Brad Richards instead.

Hossa already is at $7M for this year. he's definitely gonna look for something near the max. don't get me wrong... the guy is a major talent and he'd help this Cup run immensely. but do we really want to commit a couple years to this guy? what has he done to earn all this? worst case scenario we get stuck with an untradeable playoff dud earning the max.

we'll soon see... especially on Friday. no way does Flip touch the ice in Calgary if some deal is imminent. i honestly doubt this one. we aren't even in the same stratosphere of what Ottawa and San Jose could offer. i'd certainly welcome it all if it did happen though!

Hossa is a top-two forward on a team battling for a playoff spot!! hellloo... mcfly! even Don Waddell is not dumb enuf to move that kind of asset without bonafide talent coming in return. The only reason we are even talking Sundin is cuz the Leafs are out of it. And in case if you haven't noticed... the Leafs actually want to trade Mats!

Sundin would thrive in our puck-possession scheme. the extension is simply insurance... especially if the uncertain Leafs aren't serious about bringing him back or atleast making an offer. Believe it folks, Detroit is the only team on Sundin's list... its already team Sweden down here and its a simple three-hour drive from his family and home. Cliff Fletcher is openly leaking the details cuz there really are no other suitable bidders. The only way this deal gets kiboshed is if Detroit is forced to overspend on D instead...
