wrong end... think owners. ever wonder why Plymouth (Detroit) Whalers dumped then name Jr. Redwings?
-
its a prelude... so the Habs lay off Hossa....
-
the Ducks are just posturing... to ensure Blake doesn't land in SJ or Detroit cheaply.
-
Hossa?? TSN.ca column...
-
the Wings aren't sellers. Kenny would be better off holding onto Cleary even if it means he reaches free agency.
-
Marc Crawford. the guy is a weasel. and Tony Granato who looks like a weasel.
-
you gotta figure Brian Murray knows a thing or two about Fedorov;) Them Sens are in dire need of a midseason jolt!
-
sergei is lazy... in an era gone past he'd only bother to pick things up when matched up against rival russians like Pavel Bure or a Alexei Yashin. for a guy of this immense talent, it sucked not to see Fedorov go full throttle all the time. he seemed to do just enough to lead our team in points but no much more. Who knows... maybe Datsyuk can revive Sergei's thunder? We'll have to wait and see. hopefully Sergei can be signed as a UFA this summer. One guy I'd rather see right now is old #13 Slava Kozlov. that guy was clutch... he'd look SWEET finishing off Datsyuk's saucer passes!

give it up already, bub. what logic dictates and what actually will happen are two different worlds. this is Detroit, where overkill is where its at! Kenny will make a move... i just hope its something more constructive than adding sentimental favorite McCarty.
-
comeon... he flatout snubbed us before signing with Anaheim. somethin about Michigan weather and not being able to wrap his lamborghini around trees in private. thats why some folks are sour. Just desserts that he would end up banished in Columbus. don't get me wrong. Ilitch still has strong feelings for the guy. I remember a post 2003 tv interview with Ilitch with him explicitly wishing that Fedorov would find his way back to Detroit, eventually. I fully expect Kenny to be right there with offers once Sergei hits free agency. No way do we trade assets for him now. Sergei, despite his tremendous ability, is a proven habitual disloyal bailer. you gotta carrot those types with money... nothing else.

Hmm... Calder and Bertuzzi. sure in hindsight, this was a bust. but we did make the third round for the first time in four years. this hardly qualifies as aversion theraphy, rather it probably reinforces those types of moves.
-
the Bert trade wasnt a big deal? I share the exact sentiment... which is why another deal should be made this year. The Wings appear to have a much better chance of winning it all this year as opposed to last. whats the big deal if they make a move to help things out? Hasek has alot to do with it... He proved (again) last year that he can keep us close. Clutch scoring is at a premium. we are reminded of this moreso when Zatta is out nursing his back.
-
True, the trade deadline should be moved later. And moreso true, a lot of struggling teams are still in it... stalling trades. I think a big trade or two is needed to spark the rash of deadline trades. Who knows, maybe Selanne and Forsberg's (soon to be) return is already enough? I think the Flyers will be bigtime players at the deadline, maybe even Ottawa if Emery craps out.

why are yall obsessing with the Duck's streak? Come playoff time they'll certainly be there. The sad shape of the Western Conference sayz so.
-
gone are the days, as of last year?? you are refuting yourself. The Cory Cross year was an abberation. We had Legace in net... no one gave us a snowball's chance in heck. The Dom is back... Ken will take liberties once again.
-
Rarely does Ken add anything but well-experienced vets at the deadline. You just know its likely gonna be Sundin. like where else is he gonna go? Mats holds that no-trade clause... would he burn it up just to fade away in Vancouver?? Mats is gonna play all out... he's still after a Cup and more importantly, after a new contract.
-
well, if it looks like Kenny has this guy in the bag (for next year)... it might just make him more inclined to move a prospect/draft pick or two at the deadline...
-
Relax bud, we're all on the same side. How long have you been following this team? Deadline deals are Kenny's thing. always has been. Now his moves can be subtle or huge. judging how Detroit has been having trouble selling out games, my money is on the latter.
-
wasn't Bert recovering longterm from surgery? if Bert fractured somethin right before the deadline, even that trade wouldnt have gone down.
-
this kills a potential Rob Blake trade. who is gonna invest in a rental that is hurt?
-
Satellite Hotstove banter mentioned that suitors are offering Forsberg 2-3 year contracts at up to $5M per. Sorry folks, I severely doubt our Wings are willing to make such a commitment. The Flyers and Canucks are the likely suitors.
-
i'm sick of all this waiting and speculation. how bout we just get Stevie to suit up for one last run...
-
and what sane kid under 18 will be up that late to finish the game? it would be even worse if it were a weekday! I defy any other franchise to give up perhaps a third of its season to these late games... and lets see if THEY don't experience marketting troubles..
-
what would it take to land Rob Blake? if nothing significant, I'd say why not?
-
move the team to the darn Eastern conference!!! all those late westcoast road starts are butchering the local scene. and once we reach the money (playoff) rounds... invariably against westcoast teams, the road games must be local ratings blackholes! they are almost inviting locals not to follow the Wings.
