Seabrook extended for 5 years at $5.8 million per year
Grim replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
thats crap how teams can bury contracts overseas or in the AHL, yet still spend. this needs to get addressed in the next cba -
true... but no sense running Howard into the ground (if he isn't already) for these last 20 games. Joey Mac's sparse number of starts shows volumes of how much trust Babcock has in his play.
-
I actually like the very top row... you get to stand up for much of the game/action.
-
the sad part is, many here still get all riled up at the mere mention of Pittsburgh or Chicago... it was San Jose that nearly swept the Wings in the second round last year. Babs should have gotten the boys more emotionally-charged for this one.
-
A healthy, inspired Ozzie is the best-case scenario. Heaven forbid that Babcock is forced to run Howie into the ground (again) just because he has no reliable backup.
-
Read the freep article at the top of this thread. A decision either way needs to be made by the end of this week... can't hurt to explore the options. I suppose the team Doctors will also assess whether Ozzie will be ready.

Hudler looks like his game is coming back. Although he might have sounded like a potential tradeable asset earlier in the season, i can't imagine Kenny pulling the trigger now. Hudler's stickhandling looks vastly improved and he even darts into corners after the puck. I say roll with him into these playoffs. if he whimpers out, dump him in the offseason.

If St. Louis is having a firesale, i'm sure they would take a minor-leaguer and a mid-round pick for Conklin.
-
Sorry, this Winter Classic outdoor theme is getting stale. truth is, they are only after extra seating and that football-esque tailgate atmosphere. Why not hold a weekend home game inside the confines of Ford Field?? A home game against Toronto or Montreal will surely sell out.
-
Not sure what kind of defensive help Kenny could be thinking of... a stay at home kind of guy that can log lots of minutes would be nice, but thats hardly Ken's style.
-
If Claude comes back does this mean we bring back Dmac??
-
will fedorov end up in HHOF?
-
pretty sad seeing a talent-laden team like the penguins play all chippy with a bottom-feeder like the islanders. the penguins have some fragiles too.
-
I am so sick of those putrid Islanders. If cheapo Mr. Wang wants to play hardball perhaps Kenny upsets their applecart by dangling an offersheet to Tavares this summer...
-
so... what is the deal on Nabokov? If he doesn't report to NYI will he get waived again?? This probably puts a chill on teams like Ottawa from considering a claim. I've also got to believe Kenny knew/discussed this would happen with Nabby if a bottom-feeder put in a waiver claim.
-
perhaps the most eloquent response from the past two days
-
in no way shape or form any of this is a slight to Howie. I think its more of a sign that KH has given up on Macdonald and moreso, as insurance if Ozzie doesn't come back healthy.
-
So... in this scenario, should we end up with Nabby, he simply gets waived if Ozzie gets healthy? That sounds like a no-lose situation especially with that cheap contract.
-
a dastardly thing, which i'm positive cannot exist in the NHL are those poison-pill clauses. analagous to Les Miles with LSU... if he were to sign with specifically Michigan the buyout clause would be $$$$ dollars.
-
thats enough deterrent for me... otherwise bottom feeder teams with some roster space would obviously claim him to see if he were still any good. if not, just waive him again. it simply cannot be that easy, scott-free and simple... could it??
-
yeah, a clause like that would seem kind of fishy. ps. i would rather see Nabby end up out East than with the currently hapless Sharks. pss. if he clears, this means Ozzie is obviously done.
-
there must be something more to this... from what I understood, a claiming team cannot stash Nabby to the AHL because of the NMC. so that would be a huge deterrent, right?
-
this team is too old.
-
the Sharks have gobs of talent but no heart. bothers me to my very core that they nearly swept us last year. Todd will likely take the fall.
-
True enough... thats like suggesting Soccer is purely British.
