folks get the facts straight... Happy chased the tax-free cash to the KHL. that well has dried, which brought him back scampering here. the only feasible way for him to be moved is either A. some other team trying to dump their similarly cap-hit underachiever or B. a bottom-feeder team with gobs of capspace looking for some offence.

not to sidetrack this thread... would any of our current forwards make a decent defender? I would think perhaps Helm... the guy has speed to burn, he rarely avoids contact, and he might florish with the increased icetime.

The west coast games absolutely kill the local tv ratings/revenue. having said that, I can't see the league persuing a quick change... the Wings are a great draw on the road for some reason. I suppose the Ilitch family will press on this issue once the new arena is finished or when the wings are bottom dwellers.

does it really matter how we got here or what Ozzie did in the past?? Babcock banished Osgood to the doghouse in the second half of last season. How long before he calls out Osgood again?? Better to trade Osgood and give a younger guy a chance.

ya know what irks me... how so many here are so wound up about the Hawks... when it was the freakin Sharks that torched our Wings from the playoffs.

Kenny should move Happy to Atlanta and somehow rescue Dustin Byfuglien. Having said that, the Wings are right up against the cap... not sure if there is sufficient wiggle room for any moves.

I always thought Michael Peca near his prime would have done well here. Aging players like Rob Blake and Mats Sundin would have looked good in the winged-wheel as well.

Just the fact that LL and Kovalchuk's camps did not *immediately* offer a backup contract to avoid arbitration speaks volumes. Kovalcuk had no intention whatsoever of playing out that long contract. Now that the NHL has this precedent in its pocket, it will be very difficult for any player to get a mega-longterm deal before the next CBA. I bet Kovie skips out to the KHL in the shortterm.

cap hit is an average of the total sum. a multi-year offer probably is Kenny's only availbale sweetener... well, that and a good chance to go deep in the playoffs. i can't fathom many teams even considering giving him a two+ year offer, especially with his concussion woes. lets hope the Wings' Doctors have thoroughly sleuthed this one out. besides, he is under 35, is he not? shouldnt his cap hit be wiped out if should he retire??

I have a hard time believing he wants or is capable of playing a whole NHL regular season. He might make an interesting deadline addition *if* he is healthy, otherwise PASS...

Mitchell would be nice... but it would be awkward for Kenny to abandon Lilja over his concussion only to pick up Mitchell who has been out since January with concussion.

it should be Modano centering Bert and Cleary. I love big Bert, but he really looks silly at times trying to play finesse with Zetterberg and Filppula.

curious... why are so many in glee over the Hawks troubles?? its San-freakin- Jose that ousted/embarassed the Wings in the last playoffs. Kenny needs to shore up the defense and PK.

Love him or not, Perry plays a role... I bet Holmstrom is not exactly loved league-wide either.
