I hope Modano clicks with Bertuzzi. I love Bert but he sucks up a lot of Z's energy. I too agree that this move cements filppula in the top 6.

Modano would make a phenomenal third-line center on this team! No doubt Kenny wants to resolve the contracts to his RFAs first, and perhaps also Lilja's replacement. No doubt one of the California teams will scoop up Mikey.

I thought the whole premise for temporarily moving into the Palace would only occur if the current JLA was to be renovated... no need to move if Ilitch builds an entirely new arena.

nabby is washed up, however i don't think the Wings' goalie tandem is set in concrete. Howard definitely deserves to be #1, but what use is Ozzie if Babcock refuses to use him??

Wings should make a pitch for this guy... the Hawks or just about any team in the Central don't have defensive size to counter this guy. Fatal mistake for the Blackhawks to trade him away. What use will Atlanta or any non-playoff team have for Byfuglien?? he will waste away out there. Trade ATL Hudler and Ozzie for him or Hudler + First round pick.

i keep hearing the opposite... its the Oilers that want both picks. they are hardly on pace to make the playoffs, let alone contend. The oil probably also want to shed rostered players like Hemsky and Souray.

I think we lose both Holmstrom and Lidstrom. Wings are up against the Cap... these guys will get *significantly* healthier offers elsewhere ala Sammuelsson and Hossa. I bet these guys are at/near the top of several teams UFA boards. Kenny better not be asleep at the switch like he was last July 1st. -
if he's back, it will be for one-year deals from henceforth out. the cap hit is collosal.

I don't feel the Wings need huge sweeping changes... however I do believe they'll accomplish more of what they need via trades rather than FA.

Although I agree... the team was gunning for that 5th seed. Probably not going to happen with a rusty Osgood. Besides, I'm not so sure we need to necessarily blame the goaltending at all. The overall team defense has been on/off all year, even in the first round against Phoenix.

I agree it has nothing to do with greed. Nik has already given this organization so much, likewise he has been more than handsomely paid. what more should we expect from him?? I think he's more apt to call it a career at this point than to handcuff a team already strapped by the salary cap.
