the refs are turning these playoffs into an abomination. if you get stick-slashed, you immediately must drop your stick. last year it was that stick parallel to the ice thing. these damn refs need to get the rules straight and apply them all consistently!!!

Franzen has been playing like crap

It's actually a positive to hear Campbell discuss Holmstrom... some of the penalties/disallowed goals that he gets are wildly inconsistent. It's absolutely horrendous to make those kinds of calls based solely on reputation or on flow of the game. Call them objectively, consistently and the players will adjust.

this means in the final two games, the Wings must net +1 in points more than what the Kings will earn... The Kings have a pretty cheesy final two games... Edmonton and Colorado. I say the Wings made their bed losing those two games over the weekend.

Last/this season was a completely different beast. If Howie struggled to win 20 games this season, which he looked like he might very early on... you can bet your bottom dollar that Kenny would invest in a Goalie. Especially with Osgood banished into Babcock's doghouse as he is. If anything, its doubtful that Kenny would handcuff himself into another longterm deal with a forward. Its terribly ironic that many here are all ready to sell the farm for a Kovalchuk AND they are all dug-in ready to low-ball Howie...

having an overachieving goalie is supposed to be a blessing! lets see how he does this postseason first, before drawing conclusions. Believe it or not, Kenny would certainly have been looking for an upgrade in goalie this summer (Turco? Biron?)... better to spend that money in-house if Howie is indeed ready to take that role.

I would rather see Filpulla (and all the rest of our beloved Red Wings) healthy and hungry come playoff time!
