I think it would be really sweet if we either shut the BJ's out or allowed only Umberger to score. When was the last time only one player scored during an entire playoff series for a team? Somebody get on that. -

My apologies, I misunderstood what you were saying. I glanced at it too quick and thought you were talking about the quality of play on the ice. You're spot on with the business and revenue analysis. I still think the league is in a terrible place because of him, but he's brought in a lot of cash. -

I knew a Cleary goal was coming after all that hate! And what a goal it was, too. Great effort. The Wings didn't play particularly well, but they have somehow still managed to take a 2-0 lead on the road in the first ever playoff game in Columbus. Pretty incredible. -

I agree and totally understand where you are coming from. It really just comes down to money, and the simple fact is that Pittsburgh/Philly is going to bring in higher ratings than Detroit/Columbus. -

I woudln't say that Cleary has "sucked." He's certainly been missing a little something, though. You'd think his linemates would sort of elevate him, but that hasn't really happened. I think all of his little injuries have been tough to deal with. That being said, he's kind of locked into playing where he does with the way the third line has been performing. -

Why...? I mean, I understand you want to watch the game. But that's a much more high-profile series involving two of the league's best, young players. You better believe the league would want to to and should want to showcase that. There is no denying that that's the most interesting game to the neutral hockey fan. -

I love Mickey Redmond. Anyway, what a strong start. A total and complete performance from the Wings tonight. They look like they did in the playoffs last year. Getting goals from guys like Kronwall and Ericsson is huge. Ozzie was big when he had to be. Just a really comforting start to this thing. Good stuff, Wings. -

Pavel has been awesome. I love when he plays with a certain level of toughness. He's made some really nice plays with the puck, too. -

That was an outstanding period of hockey. I really liked the way we played. There was a lot of grit to our game which I think is going to be important moving forward. We're getting productition from second-tier (and third-tier) guys and our goaltending has been just as solid as it needs to be. -

First of all, can you two stop talking about Flip? Let it go. Secondly, pretty sure Malhotra wants to kill himself right about now. What a bonehead move. I'll certainly take it, though. Ericsson has been so solid and consistent and getting him a goal is huge. I feel so confident with him out there, which is an unbeliable feat for a guy his age and with his experience. I can't wait to watch him mature in Detroit. -

I can't stand their playoff habit of giving up quick goals like that. Kronwall made a bad play on the BJ's goal. Rafalski has to be there, though. He's been a little less than superb thus far. A nice play by Umberger, too. Certainly not Ozzie's fault. -

I totally agree that the league and other fans are probably very tired of the Wings' success, but I have a really hard time believing that there is some legitimate "conspiracy." Like, the league and all the officials held a secret meeting and decided they were going to do everything in their power to sabotage us? I don't buy it. Distaste for our constant winning ways? Yes. Organized conspiracy? No way. -

I'm not sure if the refs were THAT bad. I would have liked a call on the stuff on Holmstrom in front of the net, but that's all I ca really think of. It seemed all of our penalties were fairly legit. -

Very entertaining hockey. Great crowd. Man, I love the playoffs. If the Wings can stay out of the box, I like their chances. Frankly, they're lucky to be scoreless at this point. A Columbus goal in that first period would have given them all kinds of life and confidence. I'll take 0-0 after one. Osgood was sensational. He was always in position, played with a little bit of swagger and looked very similar to the goalie we saw in last year's playoffs. Great stuff, really. -
This has the potential to be true. What is Larry Murphy talking about? I really don't want him to take over for Mickey when he retires. That will be a very sad day indeed.

A really nice couple of minutes in our offensive zone. We're close to getting one. If we can score in the next five or so minutes, I feel really good about our chances. Z and Dats appear to have decided to show up for the first time in a few games.
