The Avalanche PR department could really run with the Budaj/Frankie Muniz situation. They could call him the Madman in the Middle.

Shots after the 2nd period: Detroit - 23 Colorado - 4
-
It's also worth noting that Andreas Lilja can make bad plays with his feet, too!
-
Man, that's a terrible call. But, we just caught a break on a goalie interference call? Maybe things do even out.
-
God, it's disgraceful that innocent physical play along the boards like that leads to penalties. I mean, it really irks me.
-
Draper has dropped off, hasn't he? I imagine it's tough playing with Maltby and Downey, but those shorthanded chances really haven't been there, either. The Colorado Avalanche are the new Minnesota Wild.
-
McCarty > Downey. Just for the record.

It always strikes me how loud The Joe is when I go games, because it really does come across as very, very quiet when on FSN.

Well, I thought that was a fairly exciting period. Lots of exciting scoring chances for the Wings. This, however, is the type of game that the Red Wings seem to lose more often than they win. They out-play and out-shoot a team viciously, yet the opposing team seems to score a couple fluky little goals and steal the victory. I sort of sense that happening tonight. Budaj played very well in that first period. Just a random little thought here, but it struck me in that period that Brett Lebda is quite underrated. When was the last time he made a terrible play? When was the last time he was severely out of position? I'm not campaigning him for the Norris, but he's speedy and spunky and fun to watch.

Here we go, folks. This is about as exciting as a regular-season game can get, and I am very much looking forward to it. I sincerely hope that Zetterberg is able to play and contribute to the already incredible roster of stars on the ice tonight. Should be very fun. Enjoy, guys.

Oh, FSN Detroit. You're so funny with those witty openings.

Even though Minnesota plays a very boring brand of hockey, I always get excited for games against them and I'm not quite sure why. Part of me hopes Boogaard is in the line-up so we might see a tussle with Downey. Part of me is hoping he isn't in the line-up for the same reason. It would be nice to keep our perfect record against the Northwest Division going with a win this evening. I'm still unhappy with the fact that Hasek is getting the start over Osgood, but that's an entirely different discussion. Friday night games are always fun. Go Wings.

Judging by the radio feed, there are a TON of Wings' fans in attendance at the game. Man, it sounded like a home crowd reaction.

Is there any online link that works with Mac's? The link at hockeywebcasts.com doesn't sync up with my computer. I know it's been posted before, I just can't remember it for the life of me.
-
Any links to watch this online, guys?
-
Uh oh. Draper just said he would be out 2-4 weeks.
-
Well, I mean, we can't argue that the schedule sucks and push for more games against Eastern Conference teams if we complain when we face Tampa Bay. The Eastern Conference is not composed entirely of Toronto and Montreal.
-
Man, the upper bowl looks REALLY empty.

This is really a game the Wings should win. The Lightning are reeling right now, got beaten badly last night and probably just want to get home. Let's take advantage of that. "Larry Murphy was deep into his NHL career, if you believe all that." Somebody please explain this Keating quote to me.
-
I know this really isn't the place to discuss it, and I don't want to get in trouble, but I would whole-heartedly offer Darren McCarty a contract at the league minimum. I think it's an interesting idea.
-
Paul Woods saying, under his breath, "Thank God for Andreas Lilja," is one of the funniest things I have heard in a long time.
-
I am going to safely assume that if Drapes drove himself to the hospital, his KNEE might be alright.
-
All of these short-handed chances need to be addressed. It's completely out of character.
-
Awesome. Thanks for the links, guys.

The last time a game was broadcast on Versus, somebody posted a link to a place I could watch the game on my computer. If that can be posted again for this evening, it would be greatly appreciated! The Flames aren't in the Central, so the Wings will beat them.
