I certainly hope not. And I don't think so. I'm so torn on this. I love Joe Louis Arena and have grown up attending games there, but I have started coming around to the notion that maybe it is time to move on. It will generate more excitement, perhaps the empty seats problem can be fixed, etc. But, gosh darn, I love the JLA. It will be very strange, at least for me, to see the Red Wings playing a home game anywhere else.

I still think something has been nagging Lidstrom. I don't think it's anything very serious, but I do think it's more than him being a little off his game. He certainly wasn't bad by any means, he was still fantastic, but he was made to look human more than a couple times.

What he said. This actually does disappoint me a bit. I realize he's a veteran and I realize he is allowed to do whatever he wants to do, but it is a reflection on the organization and the Detroit Red Wings are a hell of a lot more classy than not shaking hands with an opponent after a loss.

WCF Game 6 (5/22) GDT: Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
RedWingsFanatic replied to aflac9262's topic in General
I'll be at the game tonight, and I don't know if I'm excited about that or not. It might be a BIT too much to take. But, I'll be there regardless. The first goal wins this game. -
WCF Post-GAME 5 (5/20): Ducks 2, Red Wings 1 (OT)
RedWingsFanatic replied to Matt's topic in General
I completely agree with everything here. There is some strange aura around this team, and I can't quite put my finger on it. We were thirty seconds away from essentially losing that series to San Jose. There simply HAS to be a reason we were allowed to keep playing. Maybe the Wings lose on Tuesday and this is all wishful thinking, but something is going on here. -
WCF Post-GAME 5 (5/20): Ducks 2, Red Wings 1 (OT)
RedWingsFanatic replied to Matt's topic in General
Amen. On a side note, I will be attending Game 6 and I have never been more nervous for anything ever of all-time in the history of my life, for eternity. Another thing: I haven't quite scrolled through all of the post-game thread or the subsequent other threads, but are you all aware that Zetterberg hit the post with his shot at the empty net? NBC didn't quite show the complete trajectory of it, but I was just informed that they showed a highlight on TV and it showed the puck hitting the post. Insane. -

Oh, and how quickly we forget. If not for Lilja, this game never even gets to overtime. -

If Giguere isn't in net for the Ducks, this series would have been over this afternoon. He single-handedly won Game 4 and he did the same thing today. It's happening again... -
Well, for my money, the Free Press does a very nice job. I particularly enjoy their Octopus Garden and Wings' Corner pieces.

WCF Game 5 (5/20): Ducks @ Red Wings, 3pm ET
RedWingsFanatic replied to motorcitykid's topic in General
I think the NBC overtime situation would be different today. The only reason they made that decision yesterday was due to the fact that they had live programming scheduled. The Heads-Up Poker Championships are scheduled to air after the game today, which I think is something that can be delayed, seeing as it's a taped deal anyway. -
Trying to scare up a couple of tickets for tonight's game
RedWingsFanatic replied to Bad Vlad Forever's topic in General
I got two tickets last night on eBay for $150.50 total. The seats are WAY up high, but I was pretty pleased with the price. Most of the Wings fans, at least on Tuesday, were way up high anyway. -
It wasn't a sizeable contingent, it was half the arena. I was there and it was completely disheartening.

WCF Game 4 GDT (5/17): Red Wings @ Ducks - 9 PM ET
RedWingsFanatic replied to aflac9262's topic in General
I will be there again tonight. Not really looking forward to dealing with Ducks fans again, but another win would make things easier. It almost certainly won't be as easy as it was on Tuesday, even without Pronger. Keep the heads up and things might be okay. -
I was at the game last night and I just need to make it known that the Ducks fans, at least in my section, were as classless as they come. It was a ridiculous display. My mom had peanuts and beers thrown at her, a middle-aged man got in a shoving match with my younger brother, etc., etc. It really ruined what should have been a fantastic night. I was completely turned off by the entire Ducks organization and their fans last night. Very disappointing. There were lots of other Wings fans, though. Nice to see.

Yeah, the four Vezina finalists is the thing that sticks out. I guess that means there was a tie? Also interesting to note that the players nominated Lecavalier ahead of Brodeur for MVP.

Yeah, I was just about to post the Hradek thing from ESPN. The Wings will not, and should not, bench Bertuzzi. He had a pretty awful Game 3, but it certainly doesn't warrant him a benching. With Holmstrom back, Bertuzzi will be taken off the top line and *hopefully* put back with Lang and Franzen, which should get some things going again for all three of them.
-
The passion the Wings had in the Calgary series was completely gone in the second and third periods tonight. They had what was nearly a perfect road playoff period in the first, but the effort was completely wasted and I think that's the most frustrating part of tonight's game. Todd Bertuzzi had a pretty awful game tonight. In theory, the addition of him onto the Datsyuk/Zetterberg line sounds great, but it didn't do much tonight. I would love to see Filppula get a shot in Game 4, but if anything, I'm sure Babcock will let Samuelsson permanently take the position. Okay, so I had sort of an odd moment while watching when the game when a friend mentioned Chris Osgood. I completely forgot he was on the team, honest to God. Just COMPLETELY forgot. It was a really weird, strange thing. Anyway, on to Game 4. The goal was to steal a game in San Jose, and that goal can still be accomplished with a win on Wednesday.
-
I think all the line juggling is messing up with the chemistry. I like the addition of Bertuzzi onto the Datstyuk/Zetterberg line a lot, but I don't think Babcock needs to be messing with Draper/Maltby/Cleary at all. If we are consistenly rolling three different forwards out every time we change lines, it makes for a difficult situation. I understand you want to create some jump and and some spark, but I think you have to trust that things will come. I agree that something seems to be wrong with Lidstrom. Even though he led the team in points during the first round, he still seemed a bit off. Now, it's becoming even more evident. He's not his usual self.

Sopcast doesn't appear to work with Mac's, if anybody was interested. Is anybody aware of any other way to watch the game that might be Mac accessible? Will Sopcast work on a Mac?

How does Sopcast work?

The Red Wings deserved to win this game tonight. It's great to see us really grind out a playoff overtime victory. I'm not used to it, but I can certainly begin to enjoy this on a regular basis. Here's maybe the most important thing I took away from tonight's game: Johan Franzen has been our most underrated forward this season, and I would go as far as to say that he has been one of the top two or three most valuable players on this team all year. He's such an interesting player, because I can't really think of anybody else that plays exactly like him. He can hit and he can get physical, which is great, and then he turns around and fires an absolute rocket of a shot like he did tonight. He kills penalties, he makes smart plays with the puck and he has been consistent. Without Johan Franzen, I don't know that the Red Wings have the regular-season that they had. And, tonight, he is able to get some glory for advancing them to the second round.

I think I like the lady directly to the right of Cleary's head.

TSN reporting Lebda has suffered concussion
RedWingsFanatic replied to omnipotent_hudler's topic in General
In absolutely no way was Lebda's hit dirty or "vicious." It might have been a little awkward looking, but it was also clean.
