Well, I like where we are. Khabijoiopbhlastaltluin has been outstanding. We should probably have 2 or 3 more goals, but he's been ******* on point. John Franzen is, for all intents and purposes, the best man ever made. What an effort on his goal. He just doesn't care about the welfare of himself or anybody else on the ice. Not many people would have been able to find the combination of strength and skill to make that play happen. I love him. This is me beating a dead horse, but we NEED more from Dats and Hossa. They've been kind of strange this afternoon, in the sense that I notice them a lot, but it's just kind of like, "Oh, there's Pavel Datsyuk. Oh, why is he doing that?" Hossa has had a bad game today, filled with turnovers and questionable decisions. I don't quite understand the Hossa-Datsyuk-Abdeldoodoo line, but I'm not a coach and I have no idea what I'm talking about. So, yeah, pretty good to this point. We started to really take it to them in the second half of that second period. Ozzie makes a couple big saves, we play some solid defense and we go up 1-0 in the series. Yes, please. -

I often think that a Cup Final re-match with the Pens would be anti-climactic, but then I think about how great it would be to beat Sidney Crosby the the league two years in a row. Then it makes me happy. Anyway, we obviously have our hands full with Chicago, so there is little point in looking ahead. Like I said earlier, a really entertaining period of hockey. We got off to a piss poor start, which I was kind of expecting, but it was nice to see us amp it up the rest of the way. We need to SHOOT THE PUCK more and limit the silly turnovers and I think we'll be okay. This is the kind of series that Ozzie doesn't need to win for us, he just needs to be good enough. That first goal was not good enough. It was as much Ericsson's fault as his own, but that puck can't find the back of the net. -

What an entertaining game. We've been up and down and all over the place, but it's been fun to watch. I can only hope the entire series is like this. It still bothers me that Pav and Hossa are playing very mediocre hockey at this point. Hossa has made a few boneheaded plays already. I just want Pavel to shoot the puck as we move forward. No more fancy little dangles, just shoot the damn thing, you have a great wrister. I really feel like if he gets one, the floodgates will open. Anyway, really good stuff so far. -

I mean, I was kind of worried about a start like this. We need to neutralize it before it becomes too much, though. I fully expected Chicago come out strong, but I was hoping we'd be able to weather the storm. That hasn't happened. Is Franzen/Filppula/Hossa too much to ask for? -

You know, it gets to a certain level that's it hard to take any of it seriously anymore. I mean, my goodness. What a terribly officiated game. What a terribly officiated series. We're 20 minutes of good hockey away from the conference finals, but I'll just be waiting for the obligatory Anaheim power plays. It's ridiculous the way the game is being called. Nobody can look at this and think it's even close to being fair. That being said, it will feel so sweet to win this series if the guys can hang on. Ozzie has been huge. We look pretty in-sync offensively. If the referees don't screw us over, we win this game. -

I think my favorite part of that last sequence was that the referee was literally hovering over them. He saw it all and was like, "Hmm, nope." Ah, a power play! -

Things established in the first period: - Jiri Hudler is a fantastic human being. - Ryan Getzlaf is a dirty scumbag. - The officiating is a a joke. I'm typically one to stand up for the officiating and to calm you guys down, but that first period as asinine. -

I'm sorry, why Franzen/Filppula/Hossa isn't together escapes me. I understand Game 6 was a bit lethargic, but it seems awfully sudden to be splitting those guys up. The fourth line of Homer/Draper/Abdelkader does NOTHING for me and I'm worried that might bite us. Ugh, come on Mike.
