I mean, if Hossa was going to have a breakout game, it was going to be tonight. It was a Game 4 after all! He just hasn't been consistent or very good at all. Three great games does not a clutch performer make. He's had a great chance to step up in the absence of Datsyuk, but it's just made his lack of production and intensity apparent even more.

I don't really feel like wasting energy on this one, but we're obviously going to need to be better the rest of the way if we want to win this series. I was really hoping for a win tonight to give us a chance to win it at home on Saturday. Oh well. This certainly makes things more intriguing. In short, we just need people to start showing up. Marian Hossa? I mean, come on. If you can't show what you're made of in a series like this, I have no use for you. And, seriously, what's holding up Pavel? I'm no doctor and I don't know the specifics of the situation, but it certainly seems like he should be able to take the pain and play. Draper was useless. Put back in Abdelkader. A pretty discouraging, frustrating game that gives Saturday an entirely new look. I was fully expecting the Wings to take at least one in Pittsburgh. All the pressure is on us now. Make it happen.

I want to die.

There have been five shots. One of them has gone in. Debatable. The Wings have clearly been the better team thus far. The officiating has been shoddy again. The Pens were offside for their goal. I guess it doesn't matter. I really think if we keep this level of play up, however, things are bound to go our way sooner or later.

Don't do that.

Well, the Wings don't play all that well and still win by two without Dastyuk. So, I'm pretty happy. Ozzie was big. Our depth came through. A nice start.

Pens fans have every right to be peeved by the Wings goals.

The officiating whining does get very tiresome, but that non-call on Cooke was pretty egregious.

That 2nd period kind of typifies why the Wings are so frustrating. They play downright brutal hockey and somehow manage to come out on top. It just doesn't make any sense. There's just some sort of tenacity that players like Franzen possess that make this team so special. That being said, the Wings probably won't be able to play that poorly in the 3rd and expect to win.

That's a gigantic goal. We were going to be lucky to get out of this period tied, and now it looks like we're going to have the lead. Another stoic, legendary Franzen goal.

Two stupid, stupid penalties.

I don't think it's too much to say that Darren Helm has been perhaps our best overall player this postseason. I honestly mean that. The kid has been sensational.

Why the hell does NBC waste away 15 minutes with pre-game stuff? If a non-hockey fan tunes in thinking, "Hmm...let's see what this is all about," they'd turn it off before the game even started. It boggles my mind. If the broadcast is going to start at 8, the puck should drop no later than 8:05. Anyway, I thought it was a good, very entertaining first period. Our goal was fluky, theirs was one I'm sure Stuart and Ozzie would both like back, so we'll wipe the slate clean and make it a two-period game. Marian Hossa was on fire. You can tell he really wants this. I'm not sure he was always making the smartest play, but at least he was energized and involved. That's more than we've been able to say in most non-Game 4's. The Penguins are obviously much more stable and composed than they were last year. The longer we let them stick around, the more that confidence is going to build up, so I'd very much enjoy the next goal, preferably early in the period.

Zeta has been FEISTY in this third period. He's everywhere.

By the way, if the Wings come back and win this, it might be my favorite win of all-time. For real. And for so many reasons. Okay, probably not of all-time. But it would be so sweet and satisfying. I hope they show Michael Jordan crying.

I think I just had an out of body experience. Good lord, what just happened? I'm still struggling to fathom this.

You know, sometimes it's clearly not meant to be your night. This would be one of those nights. Oh well. Winning Game 2 looks awfully large right now. Hey, another power play! A goal right now would be really nice. It'd at least make things interesting.
