I saw that exact jacket today except it was for the Washington Bullets and it was on a dude with cornrows.

I was at the game last night and while I wasn't on the "Fire Hanlon" bandwagon before, I certainly was when I left. The defense made horrible decisions with the puck, Alex Ovechkin is a poor choice for powerplay quarterback, and the line combinations don't make effective use of the team's talent. Hanlon was great at getting the young guys to work hard, but the team's outgrown him. They need someone with a more disciplined approach, someone who can tell Ovechkin to be more mindful about turnovers and tell Kozlov to dish the puck rather than skate until he's run out of options. Trading players is not the answer here. The coaching change will definitely be good for the team.

I don't get it. There wasn't a single piece of statistical evidence or a single argument from the composite camp in the entire article. Composites are less accurate? They make it harder to receive a pass? Where'd he get that from? I personally prefer composites for the lighter weight, but I would be all for the NHL banning them if they decided to do so, if nothing else than to reduce the number of broken sticks per game. I just don't understand how this article is in any way valuable. Thanks for posting it, since it'll give us a nice discussion, but honestly the article is crap journalism.

Don't mess with it. More than any other line I've seen, the ZDH line depends very little on the actual position of the players. Datsyuk and Zetterberg play very free-form positionally in the offensive zone, and Holmstrom doesn't play at all like a traditional winger. From what I've seen, the difference between having Datsyuk on the wing or Zetterberg on the wing is pretty minimal. It'd be foolish to mess with it now. Maybe if they come up dry for a game we can talk about it. Also, isn't Babcock's policy something along the lines of "if you guys are going to play on the same line, you figure out who's playing center"?

It seems like this has come up every year for the last ten seasons. I'm not sure I believe it any more now than before, although I will say that having Sundin to center our second line would certainly put us over the edge.

A+ In all seriousness though, I was at a Caps/Pens game back when the Pens had Hedberg. The Caps scored and Hedberg thought he was interfered with. He started skating to the ref to yell at him, pushing Caps players out of the way as he went, and when he reached the ref through the crowd he inadvertently punched him in the face. Unfortunately the ref didn't fight back.

Or it could be that the new blades are less susceptible to ruts since the melting factor will help even out irregularities. I wonder what they'd do to the ice if every player on both teams was using the, though.

I didn't know about that rule. Very interesting. Before I knew about this I was opposed to counting shootout statistics, but if the losing goalie gets an additional goal against, I think the player who scored the game winning shootout goal should at least get credit for that.
