This happens to every team every year. GMs like to wait until the 11th hour before giving out their most generous offer, and upcoming UFAs wait until the 11th hour to lower their asking price for the home team. Just relax until Sunday. -

The cap number is just the total contract amount divided by the years of the contract (the average salary per year), so no, you can't do that. Good try though. -

I agree completely. Schneider is worth that much for sure, just not to a team with Nick Lidstrom and no solid scoring wingers. It could be better to spend that money on scoring depth and second tier defensemen.

Give Thomas Vanek an offer sheet. If we can score him, let Bertuzzi walk. Otherwise sign Bertuzzi for cheap. Re-sign Schneider, Chelios, Dom, Calder, and Markov. Let Lang go. Trade Samuelsson for whatever we can get for him.

Until the Pronger hit, I would have said that I would root for the Ducks. I don't think I can do that anymore. I'm rooting for the Sens. -

Haha, that was my first thought too. I've got this image in my head of little Chris Osgood with all his pads off, sitting in a locker labeled "Bertuzzi." Freaking hilarious. I love it. Every team needs a backup goalie like Ozzie.
