Theres definitely a "just get it done" attitude tonight. The Wings aren't being nearly as fancy (or lazy) as usual. I'd say this is one those games in just a handful where we have played how we can. Its far from over yet, but I have few complaints about this game (for once ).
-
Yeah...except that Franzen had about a foot and half less space!
-
Haha what was up with Eager sticking his hand down Stuart's shirt?
-
How the f***, out of all the s*** that just went down, is Lebda the ONLY guy who gets called?
-
Kane is back, but theres no way that ankle is 100%.
-
Its no surprise that Chicago, Boston, and San Jose all look incredibly similar to the Wings in terms of style of play, and are sitting atop the league.
-
Haha what? That's priceless. Datsyuk threaded the needle. Thats a little thing called talent.
-
Just because its the most important hit of the game, doesn't mean its being praised. If anything, its a compliment to Kane - hes such an important guy that naturally the hit was an important play in terms of the competition. If ANYTHING, Ken, Mick, and Larry are doing nothing but praising the hell out of the Hawks.
-
Hudler has turned into a great playmaker. Hes awesome at finding the open man.
-
Kopeckys actually having a pretty good game tonight.
-
Datsyuk is on fire.
-
Wow. That is embarassing, Lilja.
-
Our forecheck is brutal. Special teams look a lot better though.
-
And then Hank passes it. Jesus, shoot the puck when youre in that kind of position.
-
I cant believe Datsyuk passed that puck.
-
Campbell looks like a f***in fruitcake when he pulls that move non-stop. I want to see a Kronwall special for once and rock Campbell in the middle of his ballerina bulls***.
-
You forgot that whole middle-ground where what the fans want means jack s*** in determining a victory.
-
With the love Babcock has for Sammy, I wouldn't be surprised if he gave him a day off for the hell of it.

What do you think could jumpstart the Wings?

No, those things are characteristic of a team that already has jump. Whats missing is the motivation to play with those characteristics. -

Lebda should DEFINITELY be moved. Theres absolutely no reason to keep the guy. Hes not a core player, hes not a key player, and hes not Hossa's BFF. Meech can replace him with ease, and moving Lebda means just enough space to call up Helm, Abdelkader, Downey, Ericsson, etc. when a player or two needs a kick in the butt. And THAT is something we could definitely use. Outside of that, I wouldn't mind Holland growing a pair and leaving the door open for an interesting trade. I love Holland and all, but its been a while since he pulled off a trade that wasn't of the deadline no-risk variety. And I don't say that in panic mode either, I say that because looking around at the rest of the league, the Wings have very little in terms of up and coming talents up front. I think Holland could do something interesting in trading a guy like Kronwall or Filppula that could help us now and in the future. -
No team can keep a pack of young talent anymore. Kane, Toews, Sharp, Keith, and Seabrook could easily each cost 6M a piece on the open market, and then you have guys like Campbell and Huet on the books, along with other guys like Versteeg and Byfuglien. Within the next two and a half years, they're gonna have to re-sign every single one of those guys except Sharp. Good luck with that, guys. With that said, I'd say the next 5 years easily look brighter for the Hawks than the Wings.

I laugh at your inferiority complex that leads you to grasp at accidentals to make yourself feel superior. At any rate, you want me to read what your typing, yet your sentences are so poorly constructed its hard to understand: Its a poorly constructed sentence in which you misuse words and grammar tenses. Lets go for some decent grammar and structure before we start asking people to read it. Aside from that, your argument is that of the straw man variety. And you juxtapose your position anyways, saying its not a quantitative argument when the retention of Marian Hossa is precisely a quantitative argument.
-
So you take one part of a three part circumstance to prove your point? That'd be nice and all, if there weren't other factors in Hossa's decision. As for where I said "Samuelsson", I meant Filppula, but it IS nice to see that you have to jump on unintentional mistakes to make yourself seem knowledgeable. And again, like most players who are on the losing side of debates, you bring on the hyperbole. Yes. I said that I know what every player thinks and will do. Thats exactly right. How about we go with a little logic here? Hossa will not return, let alone for a paycut. Period.

12/27 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Avalanche 4, (SO)

Money is a very poor indicator of who to pick in a shootout, or how they will perform. It wasn't long ago that Tomas Holmstrom was the only one to come through in a shootout after 7 or 8 rounds. Of late, Hudler has been the better player than Hossa. Confidence alone can do wonder for the shootout. This just goes back to the subconscious inferiority complex we all have of Hudler. Datsyuk and Zetterberg didn't do squat in the shootout either. -
