12/13 GDT: Red Wings 5 at Coyotes 4, (SO)
YoungGuns1340 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
One person has "blamed" McLellan. And NO ONE has said it rests all on McLellan's shoulders. Whereas you have been the one saying the Wings will shake out of this thing after a few games. Maybe you should get a grip on the fact that roster talent or not, this team doesn't have what it takes unless changes are made. -
I meant Stuart, Kronwall, Ericsson, and Rafalski. It was a scenario based off Lidstrom retiring.
-
Chris Pronger would be a god-sent right now. And yeah I hate him on any other team too, but he'd likely tone down the stupidity on a Red Wings squad. Hes playing better than any of our Dmen right now, including Lidstrom.
-
All I know is, the two best teams in this league without a doubt are the Bruins and the Sharks. And we've managed a collective 1.5 GF average against them so far. If that keeps up, we'll know where we stand.
-
The only thing low-scoring about it was the Red Wings total. The Stars still potted 3 goals. And you're forgetting the most important part of this game - IT WAS THE STARS. 29th in GAA, 15th in GF, 28th on the PK, 28th on the PP, worst team in the western conference, starting a goaltender with worse stats than Osgood, and with injuries to FIVE key players. I'm not really sure where this "our defense has improved" bit has come from. A few nights ago we let in four goals, two of which were the direct result of defensive errors.
-
Yup. I'm with you. And those are the guys that the Wings really need. Do I like to see guys like Andre Roy eat their teeth for punching Hank in the back of the head? Sure. But most teams have bigger fish to fry. I would kill for a guy like Clowe on this team.
-
Of course its not. This team has talent and smarts coming out the ass, which is why their efforts of the course of this season are inexcusable across the board. You give some effort, and with this kind of talent, you win games in dominating fashion. The Wings give the same amount of effort every game, and when a team actually shuts down their offense in the end, they fall to pieces. I guarantee if the Wings played 3 periods the way they played the last period, the score easily wouldve been reversed.
-
Yeah I noticed that - I also notice that we aren't getting to the pucks first when we dump it in, and 7 times out of 10 the opposition has the puck right back out of the zone in a matter of seconds.
-
Against the Stars? Frankly, I could care less how the defense looked in tonights game because they SHOULD've looked good tonight. Half the players Dallas had up front were a bunch of no namers against a pack of elite defenseman. The lines couldnt get anything going because, except for a few of them, they didnt fight for it. They didnt hustle. Theres absolutely no defense that can stop our talent when we combine it with a good work ethic. The Dallas stars are the ******* worst defensive team in this league. Turco is having one of the worst year of his careers. And yet we could only manage one goal.
-
I'm not one to curse you for it. But I would really like to see us lose. I dont want Babcock to be able to pull his typical 08-09 post-game bulls*** absolving all his millionaire players for playing like s***. I want some rub outs. Some domination. Then again, we're playing San Jose soon, right? That should take care of itself.
-
"I don't think most of our players can play harder than they are..." What the f*** is up with Babcock? Wheres the hard-ass attitude?
-
Babcock sickens me with his talk. "Well, we played a good game...it just didnt work for us...blah blah blah covering my ass."
-
It did flame out three or four years in a row. And what did Holland eventually do? He added size, he added intensity, and he shed the weight of satisfied veterans who had nothing left in the tank to fight like dogs for their victoires. I really don't expect this team to do much of anything but flame out in the playoffs this year, because Holland doesn't make any trades but the safe ones. The complaint myself and others mirror those same claims we made from 2003-2006. More energy, more desire, more physicality, less retrospect.
-
Hey. Count me in. I was wary of the Wings bringing back the ENTIRE cup-winning roster from last year. You simply don't win with a bunch of smug players happy with their accolades.
-
I think we all would. And I continue to maintain over and over, we need....to make...ROSTER changes. Mark my words, this team doesn't change its tune until some players come and go.
-
Its funny how all the "We'll turn this around after a few games" folks have all but disappeared. f*** this s***. 28 games. Over 33% of the season over, and STILL we have just one solid full-game effort.
-
Wow. Pathetic. Someone remind me how bad Dallas is defensively? 29th? Their PK is 28th? Turco has a sub .900 GAA? Their a bottom 3 team in the league overall? They have at least 5 key injuries? Thats what you get. Don' bring it til the third and you encounter a hot goalie. ******* joke of a work ethic.
-
Holy f***. Turco robs Hank and Franzen gets a post.
-
Its the risk you run when you only ever to decide to play in the third period. Lo and behold, a team plays well defensively or a goalie stands on his head in the third and suddenly youre out 2 points.
-
When you really need a goal, put Kopecky on the 1st line.
-
Did anyone see the way Dan Cleary went straight to the net with his stick almost glued to the ice. Downright beastly. Clears is a player. Looks awesome with Hank.
-
If you watched every Wings game closely this year, I think you could probably correlate the closeness of our games with the disparity in the high amount of chances the opposition gets from our slot, and the lack of chances we get in their slot.
-
The Wings have gotten away with a few things tonight. Nothing big, but stupider stuff has been called. We also got the benefit of a really bad icing call.
-
I'm gonna go with Franzen. Seems like he scores a big goal whenever hes been pretty lackluster for the majority of the game.
-
Ehhh...hes been off for longer than 5 games. I'd say hes been off for about half the games so far. In fact, I think hes really fallen off since the Pens game. Since then, he hasnt looked too hot offensively. Hes definitely improved physically though.
