Thats exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like you'd like Zack Kassian too. Some say hes the next Milan Lucic. If the Wings need to clear cap space to re-sign guys like Franzen, Hudler, and Hank, then Id ship off Filppula and our late first to a team like Florida for their 1st, which would likely be about 8-12th overall. That should be high enough to land Kassian. The kids already 6'3, 205.

I'm sure Holland and co. have different priorities, but one thing lacking in our system is any semblance of a power forward - a big guy who could pan out as a physical top sixer. Ultimately those guys come at a premium though, but I also think the Wings should trade up in the draft. I'm not convinced we're going stay lucky with our later draft picks. WIth the added emphasis on scouting in the new NHL, it seems like teams are taking their later draft picks more seriously and doing their homework. Itd be nice to have a first round gem in the system. So yeah..What do the WIngs need? How about Zack Kassian? Other than that I think the Wings are pretty stacked in all other areas and might just be best served going with the BPA if they cant find a power forward.
-
So you've establish a pecking order? That's nice. Doesn't mean hes not going to get traded though. And a guy like McLean is a moot point. As a career AHLer, hes essentially a throw away.
-
That might've been funny 3 or 4 years ago. After making plays for guys like Drake, Downey, Mac, Stuart, and Bertuzzi since then though, its really not.
-
I'm gonna be pissed if we don't nail the stars with at least 5 goals and win by more than one. Their defense is one of few that are markedly worse than ours. Its downright terrible. We better convert tonight A LOT.

Kopecky won't be moved while Hossa is a Red Wing.
-
It would also be nice to stuff 80 pounds of horses*** into a Red Wings jersey and throw it on the ice for about 8 minutes every game instead of seeing Kopeckys ugly, usesless mug out there. But hes Hossa BFF. Not gonna happen. To answer the question. A thug? No. A guy like Dallas Drake? Yes. I wouldnt mind seeing a guy like Glencross or Mayers in the lineup.
-
Im not gonna knock him for his stats, which arent anything special - hes a rookie. But I laugh in his general direction at picking the Stars because they were a "competitive" team. Haha.

Conklin to start in Dallas; Chelios to debut on Sat
YoungGuns1340 replied to Elshupacabra's topic in General
Conklin and Ozzie are not playing any better than one another. The only reason everyone thinks Conklin is looking better is because hes not taking any heat. Ozzies the guy that won the cup, the guy that played well last season. Half the time, the media forgets that Conklin was even signed. If you ask me, you're all making a big deal out of nothing. The coolest thing about this is that Chelios is coming back. I cant wait to see how he looks. -
This quote from Babcock last night basically sums up what I've been saying about the Wings for the past 25 games or so:
-
Wow. Babs finally ******* sums it up! Anyone else catch that? Lets get some footage of that. "Sometimes you get too caught up in how skilled you are and forget that you have to compete and win battles..." Thats what Ive been saying all along. Bring back Drake! Hell change a few things...or Forsberg. Same type of player.
-
I'm so glad he took the time off for his eye. Its done wonders. And what about Datsyuk? Hes become somewhat of a gritty player. Hits, screens the net, etc.
-
Thats exactly why I think our problems stem from motivation.
-
Haha me either. Awesome comeback. Wings looked good in the second period and second half of the third period.
-
Haha it did. BULLET of a win.
-
This team just wants the record for most 1 goal wins in the league.
-
Datsyuk - humans are solids.
-
Phaneuf you're such a ******* oaf. How did this clown earn a Norris nomination?
-
My big grudge against Rafalski is that he isnt playing better than any Dman defensively, except maybe Lebda. Maybe. Yet his making nearly twice as much or more than every Dman except Lidstrom. And what REALLY bothers me about that, is that hes grossly overpaid right now when we could really use some cap space to make some changes.
-
At his position of defense? Yes. He makes for a good forward though.
-
I think the Schneider-Rafalski comparison is finally fully aligned. They are the same player.
-
Zero. *******. Luck.

Dan Cleary: Proof that hard work equals good results.

Dbag Langkow is quickly becoming one of my least favorite players. Dan Cleary is a beast.
