Yup. Here comes a "stellar" performance from [insert team name here]'s goaltender.
-
They're still not getting as many quality chances on net as they should be for how much theyve had the puck.
-
Man Datsyuk has some fire in his game today.
-
Youre definitely not...
-
And thats exactly what worries me. The Wings have been winning games all year by deciding to play when its convenient for them. Thats a terrible habit to develop. If they keep on operating like this - and winning - they're gonna carry it through to the playoffs where we'll be playing good, desperate teams. I wouldnt be surprised to see the playoffs this year turn into an 05 or 06-like performance.
-
Haha. Sorry about the rant. Just incredibly frustrated.
-
What are you talking about? The Bruins are one of the best teams in the NHL right now. Have you seen their record? Nearly IDENTICAL to the Wings, and Im betting that their defensive stats are much better than ours too. This is who the Bruins are - a great team. And their kicking our asses without even playing their best hockey.
-
The thing is, though, if your defense has sucked ass for nearly 25 games, you make some changes - whether its pairings, minutes, plays, systems, whatever it is. What changes have we seen? McCrimmon has the best tools to work with on the back end in the entire NHL, and instead of building a castle with those tools, hes building a ******* outhouse. And if its not him, then he needs to go to Kenny and say "look, this is out of my hands. If you dont shake up this roster, it wont improve."
-
What? It was "all Bruins" before they scored the goal? Thats laughable. If it had been "all bruins" they would've had a shot on goal BEFORE they actually scored. The Wings played well in the offensive zone for the first 10-12 minutes or so, and the Bruins spent next to no time in our zone - hence the lack of goals against. But once the Bruins actually do more than cycle once in our zone and get booted out, they score. Story of the Wings life. Once a team realizes all they have to is apply a little energy in the zone, then can run all over our zone and score a goal.

Zetterberg has been better than Hossa. Hes visible every shift. Hossa is off for 4-5 games, on for 5, off for 5, on for 5. He was fairly absent in his previous 4 games or so up until last night.
-
I'm sorry, but ******* fire McCrimmon already. Savard is WIDE open in the slot. What the f*** kind of system are them employing in our own zone? Whatever it is, its not working. In fact, its embarassing.
-
I cant believe how many second-chance shots that we give up when the puck is a foot or two from our goaltenders.
-
Is there something in the drinking water that only our goaltenders are drinking?
-
Wow that was a FLOATER. Terrible goal to give up.
-
I don't understand how this team doesn't kill on 4 on 4 play. Youd think with all the creativity and skill we have up front that we'd just dominate all that extra space..
-
The Wings get scored against, and who does Babcock throw out there? Filppula, Hudler, and Kopecky. Give me a freakin break.
-
Never said they wouldn't. Its not like this isnt typical Detroit - carry the play, carry the puck, get the shots, give up the goal.
-
Go figure. Thanks, defense.
-
We've also had the puck about 85% more than they have..
-
I noticed that too. They look the hungriest Ive seen them in a while.
-
Filppula always seems to make the wrong decision when hes in scoring position.
-
Judging from tonights game against the Jackets, I'm pretty sure Kopecky is off the first line and Cleary is up there instead. That shift where he f***ed up a beautiful scoring chance and took a goaltender interference penalty all in about 8 seconds opened Babcocks eyes I'm thinking. Not to mention, Hossa-Dats-Cleary went on to score a pair in the game and the line clicked a lot better than when Kopecky is up there. As for this game, I think we lose it. I was at the game last night and Columbus D was brutal - the thing was, ours wasnt much better. I'm gonna say 4-3 Bruins. Our defense will get run over, per usual.

Of the other big name NHL players, the only ones I can really see thriving on the Wings are Thornton, Alfie, and Lecavalier. Guys like Ovechkin, Crosby, and Malkin wouldn't post nearly as good of numbers playing 1-2 minutes fewer PER GAME on the PP and having a leading commitment to offense - that just doesn't work on the Wings and they'd probably pull a Fedorov and ***** constantly about only getting 22 minutes of playing time per game. And with Thornton, Alfie, and Lecavalier, I don't see any of them as an upgrade over Zetterberg or Datsyuk, so what would be the point?

Could the Detroit Red Wings actually be moved?
YoungGuns1340 replied to The Secret's topic in General
Dude...Troy is like 30 minutes down 1 75 from Detroit with traffic. I'd call that close proximity. What he likely means is that by nature of the area, if you're from troy or plymouth, youre probably doing better financially than some in Detroit. -
That was ******* sweet. Stamkos won it, but Zherdev wasnt too bad either. If the refs keep calling these lame s***ty penalties, and the Wings keep blowing leads like they have, I could see Hossa pulling out the boxing gloves. It wouldnt be the first time for the guy.
