I love it when people come out carrying the bag of numbers. When you wear the Winged Wheel, its different than wearing any other jersey. When you put on that jersey, you make a commitment to excellence. You make a commitment to teamwork. You make a commitment to doing the best you can with what you have. Now take a look at the Wings organization from top to bottom. Players, Coaches, Trainers, Owners, Managers - its all stacked with talent, knowledge and know-how. The fact that people are upset with the way the Wings are performing has nothing to do with wins and losses. It has everything to do with lost leads, poor defensive coverage and all-around subpar performance. We're not upset about not winning games by huge margins or earning shutouts at every other turn, but those of us who are angry are upset because you have a group of people hired to do their job - which is to entertain us, by the way. There is no intrinsic value to the game of hockey unless you market it as a form of entertainment - and they're doing it well below the level we know they all can. If I hired Wolfgang Puck to be my chef and he was performing like a McDonald's grill master, then I'd be a little pissed. Thats what we have here. If this were the Leafs, then our expectations wouldn't be as high, and rightfully so.

Regardless of whether we win or lose, a 3.00 GAA 2/3 through our 8th game is nuts for the Top 4 we have.

What has he done to show he warrants being on a scoring line? He hasnt been better than Sammy or Hudler and guess what? Flips a center. If he wants to have a career in the NHL as a 2nd line center, he needs to learn how to produce given his linemates. Sammy can score with Hank, but not with Flip. Hudler can score with Hank, but not with Flip. If Flip can score with Hank...so what? Anyone can. What Filppula needs to do is prove he can make his wingers better if he wants to be a scoring center.

I think its the visor. Hes still playing with a ton of energy, but hes not seeing the puck or the ice well. Same thing happened before he took the visor off in the playoffs.
