By the same token, if he had shot it a second earlier, it would've been right into Lundqvists trapper. At least once he made the decision to delay the shot, he made the right choice when to put it in. Theres a reason the puck deflected off Lundqvists trapper and into the net - Lundqvists was rolling his hand back into the net. If Lundqvists hand is entirely vertical - as it wouldve been a second sooner - it wouldve deflected straight up into the air or gone into the trapper.

But like someone else said, its a black and white call. 6 men on the ice, the 6th man coming on plays the puck before his teammate is off. Thats exactly what it was. In fact, if they HADN'T made the call, it might've resulted in a goal against US, since Voros was sending the puck right into the offensive zone. So what are the refs supposed to do? Its not like it was a hook or a hold that is completely subjective.

How did he "almost" not get a goal? Sammy could've tipped that goal one inch to the right and it wouldn't have been a goal. Homer could've tipped the goal too far to the side, and it wouldnt have been a goal. Any goal could "almost" not go in if the goaltender had only moved an inch in the different direction.

"Its only one game." I believe we had to wait 9 games before bashing Hossa, so it should only follow that we can praise him after 9 games of playing like a top liner. But then of course, that would be reasonable.

Hudler and Hossa - the two guys that suffered the most criticism so far up front - save our bacon tonight. Priceless. Despite the win, I'm really disappointed with the way this team has been playing. 30 some shots against? Around 40 turnovers at home over 3 games? That may be hockey to some people, but thats not Red Wings hockey.

That was my favorite part about the goal - Hossa's celebration. We all knew he wanted that first one, but he really showed how much right there. Happier than Hudler.

That was a collective use of law of attraction. I think 4 or 5 of us called Hossa to score the goal.

I never thought Id say this about a guy like Hossa, but he needs to work on his shot placement. A lot of his shots have gone straight into the jersey.
