f***in Osgood man. Way to make up for your teammates suckage!
-
Clearys the man.
-
Hudler knew right where to go while Filppula was going wide up the Wing. If Flip can connect that puck to Hudler, its a huge opportunity.
-
These penalties are ridiculous. The Canucks are getting away with a ton of obstruction.
-
Is there some rule about it being legal to hook and hold Hossa along the blue line? Seems like it happens to him every time.
-
Draper has lost his touch, man.
-
Did that possibly deflect off Homer again? Another assist for Datsyuk.
-
Wow. At least our PP has been lethal so far.
-
I love how this team can spend 15 seconds in the offensive zone and do NOTHING with it, yet the Nucks are in the zone for 5 seconds and pratically score a 3rd goal. This teams offense has been brutal, and with their personnel, that shouldnt happen.

The sad thing is, Vancouver isn't even playing that well. They've had some moments of pressure, but not much has been sustained and their PPs have been easily thwarted. There are plenty of miscues and lose pucks from Vancouver's defenseman as well, yet no ones doing anything about it. We're struggling to beat a team that is again, mediocre. And where the hell is Hossa's intensity through all of this? He got the puck stripped from his stick Sammy-style as he entered the zone and he doesn't even skate full-speed into the zone on the breakaway short-handed even AFTER he realized he was alone. He had some good moves and plays, but hes been incredibly inconsistent, which is the last thing I'd expect from a guy whos suppose to be the catalyst for this time to repeat as Champs.

I noticed that too. Unless Huds is injured, theres no reason to low-ball him like that. Especially when there are plenty of players who have been doing worse.
-
Actually, Lilja has been playing well. I thought he was one of the best players in the first.
-
Has Hossa been spending a lot of time with Samuelsson or something? He keeps on taking shots with no traffic in front.
-
My god...how many posts and crossbars are we gonna have this year?
-
Woops. Sorry. I guess I didnt take a look at the username.
-
How the f*** is that not a penalty?
-
Nowhere in his comment did he imply the Wings were going to lose this game.
-
What the f***? How many bounces are going to go the canucks way this game?
-
HOLMSTROM!!!! YOU BEAST
-
wow never mind. Datsyuk has an amazing shot.
-
The Wings have NO luck. None.
-
Was this before or after Kronwall single-handedly kept the pressure on for the Wings by keeping that puck in 2 or 3 times and distributing it to guys with space and time like Norris Nick himself?

Looking ahead... and the re-signing of Hossa
YoungGuns1340 replied to This Is Bida's topic in General
If the 1) the cap goes up to around 59-60M and 2) Hank, Hossa, and Franzen are all re-signed to reasonable long-term deals, then not only will Sammy and Hudler be the victims at forward, but I don't see any reason why the Wings shouldn't turn around and package up Hudler AND Filppula for something different. If the Wings re-sign both Hossa and Franzen, then realistically Babcock is going to stick to the lines that he has going now, at least in the sense that Zetterberg and Datsyuk will be split up as there are plenty of viable wingers to go around in Franzen, Hossa, and Homer. So then there are two options for Filppula - to play wing on one of the top 2 lines which he isn't suited for, or he can play 3rd line center, which he is suited for, but is costly at 3M on a team that, as of next season, will have capable centers in Helm, Draper, Franzen, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg, all of whom are good or great defensively. When you consider that Hudler and Filppula are 1) both ill-suited for the Wings when you consider the Wings depth at each players respective position 2) nothing that the Wings don't have plenty of 3) likely going to cost the Wings a combined 5M then it makes sense for the Wings to try and trade them for a player that makes around or less than 4M and provides the Wings with something they'll need either now or in the near future. With Franzen, Hossa, Cleary, and Homer likely to be around for the next 4-5 years at wing (under this scenario), and with Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Helm, Draper, and Franzen/Cleary being versatile in the shift from wing to center while still being good offensive threats while providing grit as well, it doesnt leave much room for the growth of Filppula and Hudler. -
Hossa feels the need to step up tonight in the absence of Hank, scores his first goal as a Wing, his 300th overall. Goals from Hossa, Huds, Dats, and Kronwall..

They fire him after they win their first game of the season?
