Flip, to me, is a guy thats going to accomplish his offense through simple plays or all on his own. His goal today was vintage Filppula. He used his speed and his shot to make things happen, not any fancy playmaking or playing off his teammates positioning. Thats why hes centering the third line, and its also why Babs isnt going to go right back to the ZDH line.

And the option to ignore it is there. For someone who suggests respectability, theres always the option to give it to others. If youre watching the game, then the GDT isnt offering much information in the way of the game - its almost always a source of passion, criticism, freak-out, condescension, and debate more than anything.

Its not semantics. Again, its subjectivity. What is "irrational criticsm" or "rational criticims" is purely of your opinion. And that is not stupid, but a fact. It doesnt matter if it was a whole sale change. There was a problem, and Babcock saw that and adjusted to it late in the game when things werent picking up. THerefore, in Babcocks mind, changing the lines was not an "irrational" move at the time, but rational. And for you to call Mindflys comments vomit-inducing were a little extreme for a guy who was suggesting something that was obviously a consideration - whether longterm or short - on the part of the coach.

There are plenty of things useless. If you want to get down to it, this board is useless depending on what you consider to be utility. At any rate, this has turned into an epic exaggeration on both sides and at this point, Im lost, as evidence by my projected disassociative disorder on Roger Ebert. "Overly emotional" is again, pure subjectivity. I myself said the same thing both tonight and today - that both players would take time to get accustomed to one another - but that doesnt explain the tendency to pass through blocked lanes, Hossas inconsistent energy, the D pairings apparent lack of communication (who know each other incredibly well), Zs inability to protec the puck, and the nearly non-existant usage of the body, especially on the back-end, for example. Those things werent expected, and that leads to harsh criticism. And Ill be the first to profess to that, especially when the two teams weve played so far are at best middle of the pack squads, yet weve made them look very good.

I think you just answered that question yourself. For a team that just one the cup AND added the best UFA available, the expectations are incredibly high.

haha you got me. Siskel and Ebert...Ebert and Roepert....Roepert and Roger...whatever.

Haha. Theres none of either. Criticism is, by nature, subjective. Again, where are these posts coming from? Mindfly made a comment about Nicks visor in jest, and then suggested some changes to the PP which Babcock did in the game himself. So whats the problem again?

Oh yeah. I forgot thats the reason why criticism existed! To change the minds of those controlling decisions. Someone go and call Roger and Ebert and tell them to put a stop to their useless criticism. Again, criticism is passion. And frankly, it makes this board a lot more exciting then everyone sitting around ho-hum. Really Cern, you wouldnt have anything to post about if it werent for folks and their criticism. So, what was the point of your post again? Again, to critcize the critics? Vicious cycle, no?

Seriously, chill and process the difference between panic and criticism. You'll find that almost every post in this thread falls into the latter category, if either.

The only thing ridiculous is your spelling. Kidding, but seriously. Youre posts are just as annoying as anyone panicking. And thus far, the "panicking" has not been panicking at all, but harsh criticism of a team that has severely underperformed when they should be knocking dead two teams that are nothing more than middle of the pack squads.

Dont worry about it. Babs recognized a switchup was needed when he sent the old ZDH line out there. Not surprisingly, it was out best shift on the PP thus far. But then he had Flip out there centering Hossa and Franzen and....that didnt look so hot. Hes probably got the wheels turning for changes to the PP. As for the even strength lines, I dont think there are any better options than what Babs has. Someone needs to get Hossa going, and theres no one better than to do that than Datsyuk. Both top lines looked better tonight, but they're still not there. I hope it comes soon, though. We wont get freebies like Gerber gave us for the winner tonight.

Mick said Hossa had 7 shots this game... He actually had some good plays in the offensive zone when the game got into it. But other than that, Hossa is his meal ticket as of now.

Yup. I disagree with the commentary. The WIngs did NOT play a good game. The top lines aren't clicking and the special teams need a ton of work. I guess what I dont understand is how one change in the lineup (excluding Dom) affect the entire teams chemistry. Even our defense pairings like Kronner and Stuart, or even Lidstrom and Rafalski arent clicking well when theyve played with each other for months already. Tonights game was a little better in terms of passing, but overall, the bright spots for tonight all more or less came from individual efforts.

I love how people complain about the complaining and then feel the need to perpetuate the complaining by continuing to complain after the complaining is over. Congrats for all the unnecessary criticism of expression.

Wow. Its nice to play a goalie who crumbles when you need the opposite. I feel bad for Gerber. He had some great stops, but that last goal was just brutal. Ugly, ugly win. But I'll take it. Still a TON of work to do.

Wow. So people were complaining about the Wings playing like crap when they were playing like crap. God forbid.

    10/11 GDT: Red Wings 3, Senators 2

First of all, the Sens arent that good. Second of all, thats a cop out. No one is complaining so much being down 1-0 on the season as much as playing like crap. And its always nice to get a soft goal to boost your confidence.

    10/11 GDT: Red Wings 3, Senators 2

Yup. And none are more knee-jerk then the "wah wahh stop whining calls." If everyone would just let everyone express their feelings, we'd all be a little better off. Now lets all sit indian style and hold hands. Whos starting off the rounds of kum by yah?

    10/11 GDT: Red Wings 3, Senators 2

Again, no one has said that either. In fact, BOTH goals tonight have been the result of individual efforts more or less. Just because Filppula and Franzen pulled off incredible shots off the rush says nothing about the way the team has played and is still playing. Respectable hockey is not what most people here expect. They expect great hockey. Of course when you play like a below average team with expectations to be far and away the best, its going to make their performance look that much worse.

Last time I checked, praising Franzen =/= praising Red Wings.

Holy crap Franzen. His shot has become incredible in the past 9 months.

The Wings have made about 112 passes so far through these 2 games that have had blocked lanes.
