    The Most Overrated/Underrated Superstar

Morrow's only underrated if you don't step outside of the Red Wings world. He gets the correct amount of hype as well. Its just that he doesn't get it for doing flashy things - cause he doesn't do flashy things. Him, Doan, Smyth (sans when Smyth became a UFA, as almost all players become overrated on the open market), etc. Those guys will never get a ton of hype cause what they don't have the stats to overblow their play. But they get plenty of respect within the well-knowing hockey world.

Chicago County Comissioner Already Trying to Mix It Up

Exactly. Thats what it is. How about something like "Go Chicago" or "Lets go Hawks"? But "Detroit Sucks"? You're a county comish and you're acting like an 8 year old? Congrats. Even Kwame would come up with something more creative than that.

Now they can bring back Joey to do video.

Bruins Place Glen Murray On Waivers

If he does get bought out, which is still possible under certain circumstances despite the buyout period already ending, he'd be a good pick-up for a team like LA if they need to reach the cap floor or Atlanta whos roster is just...pathetic..up front.

All State of Michigan Team, any good?

Doug Weight centering the 1st line - or centering any line for that matter - would be a disaster nowadays. And Mike York would be as well.

    Ryan Miller wasnt looking

Except for back when he was a Spartan saying his dream was to play for the Detroit Red Wings...

    Another fun thread...

Is that sarcasm? Or do you actually think they're going to host an NHL outdoor game in Phoenix?

    Darren Helm

You say that as though he sped around the ice at 100 mph, going to end to end several times a shift and averaging 10 hits a game. He was playing a pretty standard energy/grinder role. Did that sort of game ever stop Drake, Maltby, Draper from playing that way seeing 13-18 minutes a night? No. It won't affect Helm either.

    What's going on with Val?

Whoops. Sorry for the preemptive strike then...

    What's going on with Val?

Do a quick google search and you'll find a quote from Holland saying he'll take the 2 year option that is available via arbitration if it comes to that. Filppula will sign for at least two years. I will bet my family on that.

    Hartigan to the KHL

Because Americans speak English? If you wanted to be true to every language, then Americans would have to learn the alphabets of various languages just to pronounce and spell them correctly. Unless of course you just expect Americans to learn names from hearing them, and not actually reading them. I speak three languages and have been told I have little/no American English accent when I speak them, but I wouldn't for the life of me be able to figure out how to pronounce the name on the back of Datsyuk's Dynamo jersey if I'd never heard it spoken before. And I hate to break it to you, but its not just Americans. I've spent almost two years of my life living in South America and have heard plenty of people pronounce New York as "Nueva Shork", refer to London as "Londres" or pronounce it as "Lohndhees" in Portuguese. But please, keep the American stereotypes coming..

    What's going on with Val?

You're glad Kenny is smarter than LGW posters? Is that why Kenny isn't rushing into signing Filppula to a bloated contract and has gone on record saying he'd be fine with taking a two year deal via arbitration? Is that why Kenny is undoubtedly offering Filppula less than 2M on a 2 year contract? Also, Kronwall is making 3 million per. Not 3.5. Finally, unless both Datsyuk and Zetterberg have their careers cut short Fischer or Konstantinov style, then we don't have to fork over big money to Filppula regardless of how he performs because hes not essential to this clubs success. He doesn't offer anything in the way of lacking assets. Skill? Got it. Defense? Got it. Speed? Got it. Unless Filppula suddenly finds a Dustin Brown-esque hitting game, hes not going to be overpaid regardless of whether or not he reaches his (overestimated) potential.

    Ryan Miller wasnt looking

I'm sure Ryan Miller was going to come out to the press immediately after signing a long-term deal with Buffalo and say: "Well what I really wanted was to play for Detroit, but I realized they don't need me and weren't interested, so I decided to sign with Buffalo. The Sabres were really my second choice. And I hope all the Buffalo fans keep that in mind for the next 5 years. Whenever they see my greasy black hair I want them to remember how much I really just want to be in Detroit and play for the Wings. I'm so jealous of Marian..."

    Is Franzen the real deal?

He'll be playing net-front to a 2nd unit PP that is going to feature one of Zetterberg, Datsyuk or Hossa, and an ever-improving Niklas Kronwall. I'd bank on him nabbing 25-30 goals a year, but I don't expect him to be a big point producer year to year. 50-60 points, half or more of which I'd expect to be goals, sans maybe this season if he centers Hossa. Feeding Hossa could bulk up his stats in the assist column.

    Milbury joins HNIC

I doubt anti-European views are something that HNIC is really concerned about maintaining. Don Cherry has his job cause he wears crazy suits and says whatever the hell he wants. Mike Milbury does the same thing, except with a crazy hairpiece instead of the suit. Im not a fan of either guy, but if you can put aside a lot of the crap that they spew on TV, its almost always amusing, entertaining, and controversial. Plus, everybody loves to ***** and complain, and Milbury possibly "replacing" Cherry if/when he retires would keep the wheels moving..

    Milbury joins HNIC

With the way he runs his mouth, hes about lined up to take over for Don Cherry. Milbury does say a lot of moronic things, but he also makes some good (and hilarious) commentary every once in a while..

Wings add McCrimmon to Coaching Staff

I'm pretty sure McCrimmon is up there in terms of all time NHL +/- leaders. In '86 McCrimmon ended the season +83, which is good for the 10th highest +/- ever in a single season..

dats awesome! Khabibulin + Kronwall = Bulinwall

    Jiri Hudler

Cleary has always been playing with better linemates. For two seasons in a row. And just to flesh out that idea, because the lines bounced around so much last year, 13 of Clearys 42 points came while one or both of Zetterberg or Datsyuk were on the ice, while 7 of Hudler's 42 points came while one or both of Zetterberg or Datsyuk were on the ice.

All State of Michigan Team, any good?

Pretty sure he meant state of NY vs. state of MI.
  23. YoungGuns1340

    Jiri Hudler

Yup. And thats what drives me crazy. Forget about Fleury, forget about Gionta. Or St. Louis. Or Sullivan. Or Kane. The list goes on. People can't look past a hockey players height. Thats why Hudler is stuck on the 4th line DESPITE the fact that he produces at a rate that is third among Red Wing forwards. Yes, better than Holmstrom, Cleary, Samuelsson, and Filppula. Whats funny though, is that Hudler playing as many minutes as any one of those guys, and he'd be on pace for 50+ points.
  24. YoungGuns1340

    Jiri Hudler

No one ever said Hudler was or should be valued equally to Semin. Honestly, anyone that has seen Semin play knows that his puckhandling skills are much better than many bona fide Top 6 forwards in this leauge, let alone Hudler. But again, people uphold Semin as a future all star (which he may very well be) and cast off Hudler as the bottom of the barrel. Also, being far down on the depth chart has everything to do with it. Semin had a big year last year, but he also saw over 5:30 PP TOI and over 1,400 minutes of NHL ice. Hudler, on the other hand saw 1:30 of PP TOI and less than 765 minutes of NHL ice time. Thats going to create a pretty big gap between player production regardless of who the variables are. And AGAIN, because I know people will try and win the argument via the strawman and make some post such as "Oh em gee! You think Hudler is as good as Alex freaking Semin?!??!!one!!". My point is that while there is a gap between highly touted young talent and Hudler, its not nearly as big as its made out to be on this board.

    Toews to be Captain

One more reason to love the guy...
