    Who's looking good about now...

No thanks to Recchi or Smokes. But I wouldnt mind Nolan, Peca, or Holik on a 1 year deal.

    UFA Day one

Usually teams don't perform exactly to their projections on paper.

    Former Wings that are Available

Your terrible idea notwithstanding, check out whos wearing the As in the Stanley Cup Winning game..

    Its Devereaux..

    Rolston to New Jersey

Minnesota was such an offensive run and gun team to begin with...

    Rolston to New Jersey

Too much money, but it was to be expected. Good for New Jersey. Not much else exciting about that team, and Rolston is a wise fit. But that deal is a year too long.

    Brylin now a UFA

This is kinda old news. Some team will pick him up...and likely overspend. Good move on Lou's part.

Columbus signs UFA defenceman Mike Commodore

LA got Stoll and Greene already. Dallas doesn't need to do much. Anaheim can't do much until they make some trades.

Columbus signs UFA defenceman Mike Commodore

Wow. Commodore has an abysmal showing in Ottawa. Stuart has an amazing showing in Detroit, in the playoffs no less, and they're making the same kinda money. I like Commodore, but I'd easily take Stuart. Umberger, Commodore, Torres...I like the direction CBJ is moving.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Malone and Carters prices have absolutely no bearing on Zetterbergs pricetag. Hes not going to take 8M when Lidstrom AND Datsuyk make significantly less AND took less than market value to sign with Detroit, as pretty much every player has to.

Wings out of picture for Sundin, Hossa, Rolston

I cant ******* believe Holland is still interested in signing Bertuzzi. Hes retained his entire Stanley Cup roster, minus the lateral move (if not improvement) in net, and I would personally call it an improvement. Now he wants to add a slow guy who cant skate well, doesnt backcheck and has proved to be bad karma for the last two playoff teams hes played on? No freaking thanks.

    Chicago signs Brian Campbell

They were a pain for us cause we never took them seriously. I wouldnt be surprised if we have a better record against them this year than last.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

The good thing is, Detroit doesnt have to worry about line combos. Datsyuk, Franzen, and Hank can all play center or wing, and they're all capable of doing it in the top 6.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Whos to say no one still will? There are a lot of teams that have been quiet thus far, and a TON of teams that would love a skilled, defensively aware center/winger like Flip. Trading Flip would also be rather easy.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Let Flip go and put Hudler up on the 2nd unit with Franzen centering if we were to add Hossa. Hudler has the better offensive capabilities and Franzen and Hossas combined size and defensive awareness would make Hudler a fine fit on the 2nd line.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

I doubt we offered Hossa a 1 year deal. But I wouldnt be surprised that our deal only averaged out to some 6.5M per year.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Tanguay also didnt even break 60 points despite being paid over 5M. I think Filppula could match Tanguays trade value of a 1st rounder, especially if he went packaged with Quincey or Meech (no, nothing spectacular, but could be enough for a team like Toronto)

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

09/10 Zetterberg(7.5) - Datsyuk(6.7) - Homer (2.25) Hudler (2) - Franzen (3.5) - Hossa (7) Abdelkader(.5) - Helm(.6) - Cleary (2.8) Maltby(.88) - Draper(1.6) - Kopecky (.6) X (.5) Lidstrom (7.45) - Raffi (6) Kronwall (3) - Stuart (3.75) Lilja (1.25) - Lebda (.65) Meech/Quincey (.6) That altogether is about 61.3M. The high cap estimate for next year is likely 62M. Sammy is let go, Cheli retires, a few youngsters are moved up, Flip is traded or signed away and Jimmy is back-up. The Red Wings could also trade Lilja and move up Ericsson, for maybe 500k more in cap space, and there are other minor options as well, but its all very messy. Not worth it really...unless Hossa is willing to go for something like 6.5M, which is pretty much impossible. Ozzy (1.4) Howard (.8)

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

I think it would be feasible only if Detriot signed Hossa to no more than 7M, then only signed Filppula to a 1 year contract, and then decided to cut one of Franzen or Filppula lose next year. If you figure Franzen and Flip were each going to tag at least 2.5M next year, it only becomes a 4.5M difference. But then I haven't crunched any numbers, dont know if the cap would actually reach 62M next year, and highly doubt Holland would put him self in a position to lose one of Flip or Franzen.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Oh..this is based on an Eklund rumor? Then you can be pretty sure Hossa hasn't even gotten an offer or a phone call from Kenny.

    Hossa prefers Detroit?

Maybe this is why we're holding off on signing Filppula..

Vancouver signs St. Louis RFA David Backes

Good signing. Not too much of an overpayment. He should easily break 40-45 points next year. Backes plays a decent all-around game.

Florida signs UFA forward Cory Stillman

Florida may not be an ideal location, but 3.5M is a steal for a 65 point player where a 50 point guy can nab 4.5M

    Penguins Sign Godard

Why the Pens are losing players like crazy - Hossa, Malone, Roberts, Hall, Conklin, now possibly Laraque and Orpik. Thats just nuts. Well at least they still kept Dupuis
