The funny thing is, even if hes bought out, his cap hit for the next two years would still be 2.25M. Thats a decent chunk of change spent on nothingness.

Ottawa has absolutely no space to be absorbing a nearly 7M contract AND fill in their holes/re-sign RFAs. Chicago will have to buy him out or stick him in the minors.

I'm guessing its no skin off his nose. A 1 year contract behind an incredible team. He has a chance to win a cup, and if that doesn't happen, he'll likely again post impressive numbers for a 2nd year in a row which could land him an overpaying contract on the longer term after next season. Id actually say its a really good career move. He'll come out smelling like a rose regardless..

Toskala wasn't terrible in Toronto. And Raycroft was terrible in his sophomore year with Boston as well. He hasnt proved anything other than hes only been capable of a strong rookie campaign.

Osgood comes in at 1.417, Conks at .75 is 2.167M. Still pretty damn close.

Wow. This is an awesome deal. 750k for a guy that played lights out in his time with the Pens. I am impressed. I had forgotten all about Conks. Holland is on it. Good competition for Howard as well.

Haha wow. I had forgotten they are all free agents. I can't believe that was the best line in the NHL at one point. Now I wouldnt want a single player from that line on the Wings. -

Lebda might garner something half-way decent in a trade. Most folks see him as a respectable Dman. Add that to the fact that hes speedy and a puck-mover, and some team that lost out on the Campbell-Redden-Streit sweepstakes will likely try and piece together some would-be bottom pairing puck-movers, stick 'em on the 2nd pairing, and call it a day.

I love Pitkanen. The guys a beast offensively, physically, and decent defensively. But he has injury problems of his own, and some attitude issues as well. Theres no way Cole would land Pitkanen on and one for one deal like otherwise. (and that whole Pitkanen is an unsigned RFA might have an effect too )
