Even though Im pissed as hell about the effort tonight, like I said earlier, it speaks volumes that it ended up 3-2. We gave them chance after chance with the s***ty performance we put on for half this game, and all they have to show for is a goal more than us.

You think the Wings dont know how to own the Penguins after the first two games? They know what their capabilities are. My source gets regular calls to his house from Marian and Mike. He said the Wings went into game 4 not particularly intent on dominating the game and then were caught off guard by Turcos amazing performance in game 5. Look no further than Osgoods sudden change of heart in this game to tell you where this team stood. He played the puck ONCE on a Pittsburg dump in. He was doing that ALL NIGHT LONG in the previous two games, and it made it easier on the Wings defense. There were some key moments tonight where it just looked like the Wings werent in it to win it. Malone isnt fast. Why the hell was he able to track down Rafalski so easily tonight on a Wings PP? It was barely the beginning of the game and Rafi was completely out of gas? Hes not that slow. At another point in the Wings game, Filppula was about to pass the puck to Sammy in the defensive zone for support and Sammy - for whatever reason - completely turned his back to Filppula and stopped skating. This wasnt our team tonight.

Question: Why the hell - after playing the puck 50 bazillion times over the last two games - did Osgood only ONCE come out to play the puck?? It would've been a HUGE help to the Wings defense time and time again, yet he stayed in his net, even when there was plenty of time to get the puck. Even ESPN was commending Osgood, saying his puck-handling play behind the net helped the Wings out. I dont buy that the Wings lost this game tonight. I think they gave the game tonight. You dont all of a sudden 1) stop your goaltender from EVER playing the puck 2) Shoot consistently into the chest of the opposing goaltender 3) NOT support each other in the O zone or the D zone and 4) make continual bad passes to your teammates without some sort of pre-meditation. ESPECIALLY when in the last 10 minutes of the game you all of a sudden are back to making crisp clean passes and holding up the opposition at the blueline.

Well, after my source telling me they meant to blow Game 4 in Dallas, I see no different here. I just cant believe with the way that they played in the first 15 minutes and then all through the third that we couldnt put this game away. We dominated 35 minutes of this game and came away with a loss after the Wings were skating with cement in their boots and were making stupid passes on purpose. It was a different team in the third. They couldve put this thing away if they wanted to. Looks like winning it all on home ice is what they wanted. I expect them to play a perfect game 4.

I dont like the fact that our only goal came on an individual effort, but it looked like they were starting to get some offensive confidence there. And I wouldnt be surprised to see MT tell his team to sit back in the third to protect the lead, and then the Wings getting two quick goals.

We can get this but Im still REALLY disappointed in our effort. SO MANY crappy passes, slow skating, missed shots, lazy checking. Im really disappointed so far.

Jesus is this game staged or something? Osgoods not coming out of his net AT ALL to alleviate the pressure like he was in games 1 and 2, Datsyuk is skating slowly, Babcock has switched up his defensive pairings...What is going on here? Are we throwing this game?

The Penguins really havent been playing well at all. Brad Stuart bombs a pass and then it deflects off of whatever Red Wings leg right to Osgood. They got a few good bounces to get that goal. Detroit can take care of this. Theyve had some great chances already. Im not worried at all. Pitssburgs defense is BLEAK.

Im not really concerned. The Red Wings actually looked BETTER after Pittsburg scored than at the start of the period. Did you see how slow they looked? They need to get the adrenaline pumping.

I was reading the Mike Babcock presser on NHL.com a few days ago and I loved how he brought up the fact that the Wings went into Calgary up 2-0 last year, and did the same thing against the Preds this year. They're keeping those losses in mind. On the one hand, the Penguins have a ton of motivation not to see their Stanley Cup hopes become almost out of reach. But on the other hand, how much motivation is it when you are just two wins from the cup? The Pens may be smelling blood, but the Wings are smelling sweet champagne in a sliver cup. I think the last thing we have to worry about tonight is motivation and focus. The Wings will be just fine.

The difference is this: Henrik Zetterberg circa beginning of 2007-2008 season: "I want to finish my career in Detroit. I dont want to play anywhere else." Evgeni Malkin circa middle of 2007-2008 season: "I'm not going to give the Pens a break like Sidney did. I want the max." And yes. Both players have made these comments in similar words.
