Hey folks. There are a lot of things to sort out in this game, and as Im going to be busy for the next week - and because my computer died yesterday morning, which is why I havent updated anything - we will start the game around May 9th or so. Is this ok with everyone?

Sammys got 2 assists tonight. I always thought hed be better if he focused on looking to pass more. Does anyone remember that sick assist he had against San Jose last playoffs? I think Hank score the goal but Sammy set it up like Datsyuk..

RULES, GUIDELINES, AND HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED HAS BEEN UPDATED IN THE FIRST POST. PLEASE CHECK THE FIRST POST AND GIVE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS 1.What do you think of the point system to be used during the regular NHL season? Suggestions? 2. How many games would you like to see simulated by NHL08? Would you like to see games simulated by NHL 08? Would you prefer to use a different simulator?

Do you mean right now, or once the game starts? Cause Id like to get a few more members to be agents (hopefully 12) before the game starts.

A couple things: Digitaljohn88, Datsyukian Geek edited his picks 6 minutes before you, so Dan Ellis is taken. I see you´ve got a goalie theme going, so maybe RFA Kari Lehtonen might be a good option. Hes on the list of players in desperate need of agents, as they have contracts upcoming that need to be renewed. You do NOT need an Assistant GM. It is simply a matter of PREFERENCE. If you want to go it alone, feel free to. I think the consensus is that we will do TWO seasons, but I still want to have a few more agents before we start the game. Also, it seems people like the idea of doing the first season by using NHL08, and the second season being determined by a point system that would mirror the NHL. I personally like this idea, as it would give us something to do over the summer, and in the 2nd season, it would allow us to have a more realistic outcome, but using actual player performances as indicators rather than a simulator. HOWEVER, Im going to need a group of people who are willing to play out the games on NHL 08. Which leads me to another question. Would you guys like to play the simulation season in the NHL off-season and then start our season up when the actual NHL starts theres in October? Think about it and post your opinions so we can get this thing on the road. Once we decide what to do, I will post the finalized rules, dates, etc. in a new thread which will only be used to post standings, trades, and free agent signings.

Ok. I agree though. Deciding who is a superstar and who isnt is tough to determine. Thats why I havent been too hard on it so far. Most people seem to be in agreeance. Simply because you had a lot of high-profile guys to represent, and IceMunkee wanted one of em, thats why I gave it to him. But all your other guys are safe.

Certain parts of the game are still being decided on. I suggest you check out the Eastside Hockey Manager website, as its become a game thats a combination of fantasy hockey and Eastside Hockey Manager. After we get a NJ GM and a few more agents, ill post another thread that will clarify the rules of the game better.

Its kind of open season right now given that there are so few people who are wanting to be Agents. Also, Fedorov, and Campbell have been taken, as has Niklas Backstrom the forward, but the goaltender remains. But you are right, Mac is Back also has Campbell, so given that he has 5 guys who would likely be termed superstar, you can have Campbell. Mac Is Back, you can choose another player to represent if you want, but I want to make sure the fun players to represent get spread out evenly amongst the Agents.

The standings would be updated weekly, due to the fact that new player additions would mean that not all players on the same team would be playing on the same day. For example, if Datsyuk were traded to Tampa Bay in our game, Datsyuks performance numbers wouldn´t necessarily be determined with the other members of Tampa Bay, as Detroit and Tampa might not be playing on the same day in the real NHL. The points earned in our standings would be determined by a combined total of points based on actual player performances in the NHL. But then again, this is open to change as well. Anyone with other ideas, please feel free to speak up now.

If you guys want to do 2 seasons, then Ill set up a stat-based way of determing standings, etc. Also, as there are still some kinks worked out in the game, then Ill set tentative dates for the 2 seasons way of playing the game. Yup. Thats exactly what I was going to do once we get everything sorted out. A couple important factors for players to read 1. I need to know if you guys would prefer to play the season according to the actual, real NHL season, or if you would prefer to have our own season. If we mirror the current NHL season, then trades will be able to take place in June once the playoffs are finished, Free Agency will begin July 1st, 2008, the season will start in early October, etc. OR We could play 2 seasons within a real season, meaning, we can start the free agency period at the beginning of May, and end the season in Novemeber. However, this would be a more difficult scenario, and it would also mean as GM/Agent, you are only going to be judging players/clients/teams performances for the months of October and November, instead of their play throughout the year. We would then have a new free agency period start in the beginning of December and start up a new season in January. 2. I also want to know if you guys would like a stat-based system to use a la Fantasy Hockey that would allow you to have some concrete information as to how your team is doing. This would be determined by things such as goals, assists, plus/minus, etc of players and it would allow us to have ¨winners¨ at the end of each ¨season¨ as well as standings, playoffs, draft lotterys, etc. Ill leave both decisions up to you guys. Also, any suggestions or inputs are welcome. Id love to hear more about what you guys think about the game or what we can do to make it run smoothly. Ive gotten some good suggestions so far, so lets keep it rolling.

Yup. Youre right. So whoevers an agent, pick some more players. But try to go for ones that aren´t all superstars, as Bannedforlife suggested. Check nhlnumbers.com for a list of upcoming FAs, as those will be the most relevant for the game, but any player is acceptable as well.
