Thats because its true. If I had a penny for every time someone who went to the game said it was loud as hell at the Joe while the LGWers here are bitching about how quiet it is..
-
Personally Id rather do both...

Sorry but where do offensive career years = Lady Byngs? Thats what I thought. He may have "destroyed the league with clean takeaways" but my point is that in years past ONE roughing penalty negated your chances for the Lady Byng, let alone getting involved in some scrums after the whistle. Way to get your panties all in a bunch. God forbid somebody somebody take something away from winning the beloved Lady Byng!

Its really a hollow argument when you don't bring up how horrid Minnesota's offense really is. Datsyuk as our best offense presence is better than Gaborik as theirs. And theres no comparing Zetterberg to Demtra or Rolston. I dont see why no one is really bothering to point this out. The Wild THEMSELVES (aka Rolston and Demitra) came out and said things to the effect of "we dont have as much chemistry as we did last year" and "we need a top 6 center." The Wild players themselves were making this statements throughout the season, yet no one is bothering to bring that up now? Thats ridiculous IMO. I dont buy all these "all hail Adam Foote and Jose Theodore" arguements when they have yet to face a legit offensive team. The Red Wings may not have the better top 6, but excuse me if I was thinking that there are 12 forwards on a team for any given game. The Red Wings may not have the best offensive talent, but they were one of the best offensive teams in the league this year. How can that be discounted?? And real quick question here. Which Dmen on the Wild, in terms of offensive capability, can compare in any way shape or form to Niklas Lidstrom, Brian Rafalski, and Niklas Kronwall?? Thats what I thought. I have no problem with people discounting the Wings or picking the Avs over us, but why have so few people failed to point out that the Wild and the Wings are on different ends of the spectrum..?

He got a roughing penalty this year and has a little scrummier than years past. If he wins, itll be pretty obvious that the voters dont know what theyre talking about. Id give it to Marty personally.

With those nominees, its Kanes without a doubt. I prefer Toews to Kane cause I think hes the more complete player, but he had the injury and his point totals arent as high as they couldve been. With Backstrom, playing alongside AO will count against him. And given that all three are forwards, it looks like the voters pretty much chalked it up to offense. Kane got the most votes IMO.

If Huet AND Kolzig leaves, Im calling the Caps to win the Theodore sweepstakes. The caps have a ton of raw talent on their roster everywhere except goal. I expect Neuvrith to be great, but not yet. The caps could really be a legit threat with a seasoned Semin, Fleischmann, Green, Ovechkin, Morisson, Backstrom and Theo backing them up, with the way hes been playing. Im not so sure the Avs are gonna be able to afford Theo, as their cap sits at 49M as of now, and theyve got the likes of Sakic, Forsberg, Liles, Foote, Sauer, Wolski, Brunette and Finger to re-sign. Granted Sakic and Foote will make less if they are re-signed, but everyone else is in for a modest raise at the least. Plus you know Theo is going to test the market now that hes had a comeback year..

The only reason I could choke down a SJ Stanley Cup Champ team. Jeremy Roenick.
-
Why the hell didnt he pick it up?? I know theres all that folklore about it being bad luck, just like touching the Stanley Cup before you win it, but didnt Yzerman pick it up, hold it up, and take it into the lockeroom in 2002 when we won the cup?? Or was that the Western Conference Trophy??

Yes. Less travel. Id have expected Hasek to post ridiculous numbers against Minnesota. Even Brian Rolston and Pavol Demitra came out and publicly said that the Wild offense was having chemistry issues at DIFFERENT points in the year. They were doomed from the start. Frankly Im surprised Colorado didnt finish them off sooner.
-
Well there was never a Koslov on the Red Wings. So maybe thats why Burke didnt suspend any Red Wings players.
-
Yeah. And with the way the Flames are holding their own against San Jose, Calgary wouldve likely swept Minny.

Cheli has no chance. And he was nominated by the Wings last year if Im not mistaken. This either goes to Blake or Pisani (I suggest you check out his story if you dont know why). Next year itll likely go to Richard Zednik. This trophy is basically the pity award nowadays. Whoevers had worse health issues and is still in the NHL. Thats basically what it comes down to nowadays.

My comments are right on par with those of Cherrys. And look how you reacted. Ironic and precisely what I expected. My proof? Just like Don Cherry's proof that Malone is more valuable to the Pens than Malkin claims.
-
Yeah he did. Im guessing he was Top 5. Id give Chara the #2 this year. He was phenomenal.
-
Wait wait wait.....you mean to tell me that Dion Phaneuf is a good defenseman??? Seriously though. Phaneuf AND Chara are great defenseman who had great years. But there is absolutely no argument as to who is THE BEST in the NHL.

If course his wife is European. He probably beats her all day (and Im not joking about this. It happens a lot more than people talk about) and thats probably where he gets all his "All Euros are soft" comments.
-
Right. Hes not senile. Then please explain how somebody can believe that Ryan Malone was the MVP for the Pens while Sidney Crosby was out, despite Malkin being 80 times the player Malone is on both ends of the ice. The sad thing is, Grapes is a sideshow. And everyone knows it but him.

Yeah. Hudlers points came from the PP. WHERE NO ONE ELSE COULD SCORE.
-
HAHA. Love it.

Abdelkader is listed at 6'1, 215lbs.
-
Ellis played for LA. The point is that if we had Abdelkader to call up - a legit rookie prospect - we wouldnt need GUYS LIKE Ellis in the system. Aka underachieving career AHLers..

Two teams in the entire NHL have idiosyncratic systems that allow lesser players to flourish if they play a sort of game that complements the system. Those two teams are Detroit and New Jersey. Both have been playing their systems with slight modifications for over a decade. And both teams have been enjoying regular success year after year. Also, you should ask Shark fans how they feel about Vlasic now. Hes not the stud he was last year. Not to mention you are extremely short-changing Colin White, who is a great defensive defenseman. And the likes of Grier and Mitchell are nowhere close to the defensive minds of Pandolfo or Madden. On paper, the San Jose defense may look like its better (and even then only slightly do to the underachieving of every one of their dmen outside of Rivet), but their on-ice performance proved to be a ridiculous product. Again, to the admission of Sharks fans. And this in conjunction with a Sharks offense that only began to pile it on in February, after also giving nightly underachieving performances. Nabakov kept his team in a tight race in a tight division throughout the entire year. Perhaps if you actually watched some Sharks games, youd be in agreeance with the fact that not only does Nabakov deserve his nomination, but he also would be deserving of a win. Theres a reason why Nabakov was nominated. And it was because people actual paid attention to Sharks and Devils games, instead of just looking at a paper roster, and were able to see that Nabby and Brodeur were coming up with similar performances. On a team with Joe Thornton, Nabby was his teams MVP.

Thats because many of us have the capacity to enjoy both at the same time. Shocking I know. Im sorry you werent blessed with the same attribute..

This a judgement widely held by Buffalo fans. Im not making this comment as a bystander. This is a widely held believe in the hockey world. Miller was average this year. And it wasnt the first time. Are the Sabres a run and gun team? Yes. But there are certain indicators that prove a goaltender is still an elite player even when his team is an offensive juggernaut with a disregard for defense, or simply a team with a weak overall defensive game. Roberto Luongo was a testament to this in his Florida days as others have been in the past.
