Yeah. Because Bowman and Yzerman are going to call out Crosby as a bitchy whiner to the public media. And I dont even have an opinion on Crosbys captaincy. Its just stupid to think that Yzerman and Bowman, or anyone else in the league with that kind of respect, would call out a player like that.

I have noticed Kopecky is (very) slowly becoming more and more physical.
-
I dont care whos on the top 2 lines. But its apparent that it should be any combination of Flip, Franzen, Hank, Homer, Dats, and Cleary. Thats it.
-
Jason Williams was traded cause he was terrible for us. And Chicago doesnt have the personnel that we do. Samuelsson on the point was tolerable up to the trade deadline. Now we have Brad Stuart who is patently better than Sammy at that role. Its now become inexcusable to have Sammy on the point over Stuart.
-
I seriously wanna see Sammy sent somewhere in the off-season. Now that Franzen and Filppula have shown that they can put up top 6 type numbers (if they have top 6 ice time all season), its time to eliminate the guy that absolutely cannot, despite given all the chances in the world. Hell, maybe Hudler too. Not because I hate him, but because hes getting screwed over on icetime because the Wings can compensate for his small size on the top lines..

Like I said, hes not going to get that much more than 3.75. The most Id be hes gonna get is 4M over two years. And anything more than a 2 year contract will be 3.75 or less easily. Rolston is a reliable guy, but hes far from a dominate offensive threat, and most GMs arent going to be paying him 4M when hes 38 years old. Not to mention, hes showing his decline. He had a rough first half, and his stats have gone down a good 10 points each year since 3 years ago. And as was metioned at the beginning of this thread, Wild fans are not happy with his play. Hes not having a typical contract year. GMs actually have learned some lessons in the new NHL Brian Rolston is going to get significantly over 3.75M just like Brad Stuart was going to cost us a good defensive prospect and a 1st round pick
-
Franzen wouldnt have picked it up if it werent for injuries. That said, we need to eliminate Sammy from this entire team ASAP. Hes the worst of our 8 offensive forwards and hes taking up space that could be used for a crash and banger.
-
First of all, 3.75M isnt a paycut. Second of all, if theres anyone on this years market that would take a paycut to play with the Red Wings, I imagine it would be a Michigan native in the twilight years of his career.
-
Brian Rolston isnt going to get that much more than 3.75M, and if its on a contract that is 3 or more years, yeah the cap hit is going to be around 3.75M. Hes 35, and hell be lucky if he hits 60 points this season. Unless hes getting offers from a desperate team, he wont get anything more than 4. And if hes looking for some security I could see him taking something around 3.5, if not less.

Zetterberg shoots wide and he still gets 36 goals. Datsyuk shoots wide and hes nearing 30. Lidstrom shoots wide, and its a set play to get the bounce of the back boards. Sammy shoots wide and hes barely breaking double digits. Thats the difference.
-
Hank, Datsyuk, Homer, Cleary, Franzen? Flip? Wow. Are we really going to have a FULL SIX FORWARDS that score 20 goals this season?? This bodes very well for next season..
-
Thank god. It did occur to me that we lost 5-1 last time we played this team. But then I realized they still had Foote and Fedorov then..
-
Woah.... The Wings are 1-22 on shots The Jackets are 4-10 on shots. And WE are the ones who have had the 3 PPs..
-
People DO realize that goaltenders job is to stop the puck when it gets past the defense, righ? I mean, are we clear on that fact? Theres a reason defenseman dont get a GAA rating. Theres no way to excuse only stopping 60% of your shots.
-
Boston scored 1-1 for anyone who cares.
-
A steaming hot San Jose team only 8 points behind our slumping lazy asses should be reason enough to play hard.
-
For any Ovechkin fans out there....Washington is up right now. And Philly lost. If the Caps win tonight that puts the 2 points back of the Flyers with a game in hand!
-
So lets see...thats goals by Hamhuis, Peverly, Malhotra, Tollefsen...Why dont we just let every mediocre player score on us while we can. Feeling generous guys?
-
Are the Wings aware that theyre only 8 points ahead of San Jose? They better pick it up. And Babcock should start using his lines more effecting..Go with a Datsyuk - Zetterbeg - Franzen line, and then leave Flip to center Hudler and Sammy. Thats why you do when your down...
-
Care to expound that?
-
ONE goal on TWO shots?? Did Hasek come back to early?? Im gonna be pissed if we lose this game..

Brian Rolston is a UFA at the end of this season. His best friend on the Wild was Todd White, who centered him for the majority of his tenure with the Wild. Todd White now plays for the Atlanta Thrashers By Rolston's own admission, his line this season has not been clicking. They're lacking chemistry. Rolston has not meshed particularly well this season with his new linemates, and particularly his centerman PM Bouchard. He did, however, have good chemistry with Todd White. By the looks of it, it doesnt appear as though Rolston is going to re-sign with the Wild, which makes him one of many players (and fans) who are becoming disenchanted with the organizations apparent unwillingness to take the next step towards being a bona fide contender. Brian Rolston has one of the best slappers in the game (to the point where he uses it in the shootout effectively). And from the sounds of those comments, hed go well with a guy like Datsyuk or Filppula, who are always looking to pass first.

Fair enough. Now that I think about that hit on Lebda last year, you do have a point. He was more physical last year than he was this year. Maybe McCarty will be our savior!
-
The only thing thats worthy about creating a thread on in terms of that predicition is that he calls Luongo the best goaltender in the NHL. Its Brodeur, followed closely by Nabby, and after that, its not even close. That intimidating Anaheim offense got Luongo yanked. Im really not worried about him. And as for whoever said Vancouver is aggressive, theyre far from what Calgary or Edmonton were.

I would be more concerned about physicality, but theres really no worrying to be done. If you dont have the personnel, it aint gonna happen. Ill take solace in the memories I have of the Wings first playoff game last year. They came out flying against Calgary, crashing and banging, throwing the body. I remember those first couple minutes of Game 1 thinking "who the hell is this team and where were they for the past 82 games?". They can be as lazy as they want up until the playoffs IMO. I could care less. As long as Babs has them ready to turn it on from Game 1 of the playoffs on. And who knows? Maybe thats the point. No point sacrificing the body when youve got a Top 3 playoff berth locked up and have 10 games left. Keep those bodies healthy and sacrifice em when it really matters..
