Gretzkys success conicided with an effortless acquiring of Bryzgalov. And Trotz hasnt done much special this year. They may have lost some important guys, but they had a stacked roster last year from top to bottom. There are plenty of coaches who have done more impressive things this year, and many with lesser rosters than what Trotz has.

Actually, I wouldnt be surprised if McCarty started as many games as hes physically able to. No reason not to give the guy as much conditioning time as possible to get him reacquainted with the NHL. I dont think well see the "whoever earns the roster spot will get the roster spot" practice until the playoffs are here.

Actually, Kopecky leads all Wings forwards with 97 hits and is only second to Lilja. Take it for what its worth.

I dont think Malkin gets the Hart with Crosby on the same team, despite Crosbys injury. And I think Tobias Enstrom will get more love for the Calder than some of you guys are showing..

I think its a combination of finally being over that knee injury + the confidence that hes getting from playing with Hank in a bigger role. The guys got some good hands and skill, and Im glad hes finally figured out how to use it. I was getting really disappointed with this guy. Now all he has to do is start laying out some more bodies and Ill be ecstatic.

Actually, Pavel is often used in a shutdown role, especially when he and Hank are on the same line. Babcock plays 1st line against 1st line cause Dats and Hank are so good defensively.

Malkin with 2 assists, Ovechkin with 2 assists. I want Ovechkin to win the Art Ross and Rocket Richard trophies so bad, so Im loving this. Hell probably win the Hart as it stands. Hes just been phenomenal this year. My favorite player not in a Wings jersey bar none, and thats actually mostly because of his attitude. Hes an awesome guy off the ice too..

Are you forgetting that the award goes to best DEFENSEman. Thats ALWAYS been where Jovo's talents tapered off. Offense and physicality are there, but thats not what Id want my #1 Dman to be focusing on if Im a coach. His defense game has always been suspect and this year is no different.

I almost think Datsyuk has TOO many points to be a Selke winner. Seems like the past few years, the nominees have been third line slacks who barely manages 30 points on the season. Not sure this is the same award Fedorov won some 10 years ago. I think its morphed into some sort of hard hat trophy, and Datsyuk doesnt fit that profile. But...thats not to say he doesnt deserve it. Id love to see it.

You can bring up all the stats and projections you want. But fact is, Avery is a more mature player now then he was earlier in his career and can definitely hold his own in the offensive realm. People seem to think he has hands of stone when hes really actually a pretty skilled guy. That being said, even though his physicality and fiestiness is exactly what we need on the team, Im not sure Id want him back. He brings a lot of attention to his team, and not always in a good way. I guess if I knew more about what he does to a locker room (good or bad) then Id have more to say, but thankfully we can leave this decision up to management.

In order for Datsyuk to ever be in Lidstroms realm in terms of completeness, hed have to be a top 5 forward all time and be bringing Selke like defense every year. Because Lids is #1 in the league at his position, and #1 offensively at his position as well. Datsyuk is complete and all, but nowhere near Lidstrom.

He also said a couple weeks ago that Ryan Malone was leading the Pittsburg Penguins while Sidney Crosby was out. And of course that had nothing to do with the fact that Malkin is Russian, even though he was tearing up the league at that point.

If this roster were under another coach, the team wouldn't be in first place. I'll tell you that. Babs took an injury riddled team with a ton of question marks to the third round of the playoffs. His earned himself some extra lives.

No, I dont get that feeling at all. Lidstrom, Raffi, and Kronwall are no brainers on the point. Stuart has played point man on the PP on every team hes played for. Its a no brainer as well.

The Sharks will re-sign Campbell. Hes not a rental, rather, exactly what they need.

I actually dont hate Pronger that much. I wouldnt mind him in a Wings jersey at all, but thats just me. Anywas, jaw contusion? Whatever, thats fine with me. And if he had surgery, thats better.
