Pretty much. In a huge game like this, Datsyuk or Hossa getting a goal in OT would absolve them of their faults for the past round.

Its painful to watch Hossa and Datsyuk anymore. How can two incredible players be so ineffective, for so long?

You don't pay 2 checkers a combined 14 million bucks. We're 13 games into the playoffs, and our two "best" forwards haven't shown up.

Why does Hossa think he doesn't have to follow up the play? That drives me nuts.

This teams "star" players are an embarassment right now. You could invert the entire roster right now, and no one would know the difference.

Our "top" line needs to wake the f*** up. Babs might want to change up the lines again. You have the three coldest forwards on the ice, on a line together, and you expect them to come out of it. Not sure I understand that.

I want to see the Pens face a team that actually has a balanced roster throughout. No soft goals from Biron, and a boatload of PP opportunities from the Flyers roster. No defense composed of 5 bottom-pairing Dmen and a forward like the Caps. I want the Canes to demolish the Pens. If the Canes make it to the finals, it'll be nice to play a team that I can respect. What the Canes have done, they've done through hard work and teamwork. They epitomize an NHL playoff team right now. Hopefully they aren't too worn out from facing elite competition to take down the Pens.

Another correction. Keith and Seabrook - Chicago's top D pairing - were up against ZETTERBERG'S line, not Datsyuk and Hossa. Just one more reason why Hossa and Datsyuk need to buckle down and take advantage of their opportunities.

Hes not getting any more attention than any of our other big name players are. And hes not getting any more attention than hes seen variably throughout his career in the playoffs. He and Datsyuk just need to fight through it and work a little harder. Hossa might want to start by moving his feet towards the puck, instead of waiting for it to trickle towards him, as hes been prone to doing this run.

These days, the only insults I hear are about the city of Detroit. As if bashing the state of a city is somehow inherently linked to the state of its hockey team.

I love how players are immune to criticism if they've done something great in the past. In the playoffs it is "what have you done for me lately?" Because in the playoffs if you don't do something then there is no "lately." This isn't the regular season.

Funny. I made a point in the thread (before Sammy scored) to say that hes been playing well the past 3 games or so. I'm one of the first to bag on the guy - hes my least favorite player on the Wings - but hes been working hard out there with Filppula and Hudler. Hes battling a lot more than some of the other guys on this team are... Having Raffi back in the lineup and Sammy off the first PP unit allows me to appreciate his work

Yeah, we're getting all kinds of opportunities, we just need to take better advantage of them. I think pretty much everyone but Franzen and Cleary are having confidence issues with putting the biscuit in the basket. Khabibulin looks ridiculously beatable, too. I can see us getting a goal off of a Bulin turnover.
