Old news. Its supposedly a deal centered around Mike Smith, which makes sense. He could definitely be a starter for Tampa Bay...and on most teams in another year.

Stafford would be a great additon, but it basically means itd be a Kronwall for Stafford deal, as Campbell wants 6M per year - and by most BUFFALO fans count, hes not worth it. Hed cost more than Raffi, yet hes only equal to Raffi in offense, and is several notches down in defense. Hed really not be a good addtion for a Wings squad that needs a big physical top 4 more than anything else..

Do you think given the new NHL makes it harder for teams to find good trades and the like, that it might be possible that Karmanos and Illitch would bury the hatchet in the case that they could work out a deal with one another? Hes not having a particularly good year, but Erik Cole is ball of energy that hits and can pop in 25-30 goals. Plus hes got another year left on his contract, and with Brindamour out...they might be willing to go all in. Cole's stock has taken a pretty big hit this season, but I could see Carolina being interested in some of Detroits D prospects, as theyre really short on young and prospective offesnive Dmen in their system. Maybe Cole for a deal based around Kindl +? Its a thought...You dont have to tell me its wishful thinking, but jesus...a line of Cleary - Filppula - Cole just seems like it would wreak havoc in the playoffs...

Im calling bulls*** on this if people think Filppula was NEVER involved in trade talks. Do you honestly think the GM is the only one that does anything in terms of helping to put a team together? Assistants and others play a big part in that, and Ken Holland was a part of that team in 97, and was the head of it in 98.

Oh god. Here we go. Hes done the little things, namely not overpaying for UFAs and key core players. He kept this team competitive longer than anyone has, and he did one of the hardest things in sports - have his team win back to back stanley cups. Personally, Im proud to be a fan of a team that doesnt have a single grossly overpaid player on the roster. Hes done a lot for this team...you best keep your mouth shut.

If they got Hossa then theyre trying to fix their goaltending and D problems by bulking up on forwards. They havent had good goaltending from The Baby lately and their defense is a little suspect. They also couldve stood to add some sandpaper, having a similar problem as the Wings, especially with Neil having a knee injury..

Fedotenko has one impressive playoff season to his name and after that hes gone back to being one of those forwards whos stuck in limbo between the 2nd and 3rd line. A bigger Sammy who can pot a couple more goals is what youre looking at. Hes not great defensively, nor offensively, and he doesnt use his size. Id prefer to keep whatever picks or prospects it too to get him in the first place. Unless of course Detroit pulled a similar trade to Calder for Williams, and took on Fedo for Sammy. Then I would happily accept the trade. Prospal, on the other hand would be a great addition. His a good skater with a great shot and great offensive instincts. Hed fit in great on the second line..
