Then you should throw this out there too...

Why do people seem to think if a player gets injured now, he cant get injured again? This isnt like the chicken pox. Its not like we can walk into the playoffs thinking "oh well all our players already got their injuries.." At any rate, there shouldnt be any panicking. Kronwall will be back by Tuesday. McCarty will have a Wings contract by Tuesday. Another Dman will be a Wing by Tuesday. And possibly to top it all off, we could see another forward be a Wing by Tuesday. Thats 4 new, healthy bodies, and we only have to play 1 game until Tuesday. At most, we play 2 games without these extra bodies, as the traded players might not arrive prior to the game on Tuesday, depending on when theyre traded here. And its yet to be seen when McCarty will make his NHL debut. Im just glad the deadline is only 3.5 days away..

I dont know what you guys are talking about, but both Quincey and Meech will be traded and should be traded if a deal comes up. Neither brings a huge body, blinding speed, an amazing set of moves, or impressive physicality. Theyre boring pluggers at this point and our team has enough of them. With young guys like Smith, Kindl, and Ericsson progressing nicely with more to offer, Quincey and Meech are expendable.

Like Mark Messier? Oh but I forgot...hes the greatest captain in the world...

Per TSN Two year deal at 1.7M per. This is interesting. There was a rumor earlier about how Anaheim wouldnt dole out Edmontons 1st rounder to Toronto for Sundin if Sundin was to be a rental, so there was talk that Anaheim was asking Steen to be a part of the package. Might be a sign and trade. Sundin and Steen to Anaheim for Carter or Ryan and Edmontons 1st.

is Downey hurt too? Did the Wings just almost win a game playing with 11 forwards, 5 Dman and without 3 of their top 5 scorers?
-
Guess Im just a believer in making your own luck. Like I said, it wasnt one of those games where you go on a rampage, but to me, it is one of those games where youd expect 1 of the 2 of our "arguably top 10 in the NHL" forwards to come up with a goal. I mean, isnt that what they get paid the big bucks to do? One goal to get a point out of this.. For those who are counting, the Wings once 17 point cushion is down to 8 points tonight.
-
I gotta say, I'm REALLY disappointed in the leadership of our forwards out there tonight. Here you've literally got a bunch of kids playing defense who were able to keep the opposition to 1 lousy goal, and the professional superstar veterans couldn't even muster one goal amongst themselves. I'm sorry, but that doesn't cut it. I'm not gonna go on a rampage saying how we should dismantle the team. Its not one of those losses. Its just really disappointing to see your forwards come up with that type of performance in a game like this.

The Wings went winless in 9 straight games before the 2002 playoffs. Were you old enough to remember what happened in the 2002 playoffs??
-
I will say this. Thank GOD the Deadline is this Tuesday. At least we know well be getting some fresh bodies soon.
-
Do you just *****? Is that all you do?
-
Really? STILL no goals?? Zetterberg and Datsyuk are still out there right?
-
Haha yeah that was established last season. Im surprised hes gotten to the NHL with that shot. Its honestly the weakest shot Ive ever seen. Its not that of a pro hockey player.
-
What is up with our offense. I cant see the game, but are we gonna get shut out AGAIN? Kipper has NO shutouts this season. With the way its gone for us lately, I wouldnt be surprised if Kipper gets the shutout tonight..

Is Kopecky out of the game?
-
Both players have been rumored to be heading Torontos way, and yes it looks like it would be Bobby Ryan, but I think you are selling Carter a little short. Since the Weight move has started looking like a bust lately (1 point in his last 13 games), Carter is holding his own and getting some time as the 2nd line center, and apparently hes attracting interest from several teams..
-
We might have to if Chelios is out. Im really intrigued by this Salei rumor now..

The Islanders have re-signed Trent Hunter to a 5 year, 10M dollar contract Per IsalndersTV, TSN For those of you who don't really care, this just gave Ken Holland a black ace in bargaining with Dan Cleary.
-
yeah but if they give up Sundin as a rental, and Steen for good... Then in the off-season they could re-sign Sundin, have Carter or Ryan from Anahiem, and have whatever player that 1st round pick from Edmonton brings them. It ends up being 3 for the price of 1. Not a bad deal, IMO.
-
No teams have been listed as interested (and Im not sure Id even trust what the media says at this point) but it wouldnt surprise me if Holland was the one who made the initial inquiry. When Salei was a free agent a couple years back, the Wings were rumored to be interested in signing him then. I especially wouldnt be surprised if the Wings are interested in Salei in looking to replace Lilja. We havent heard much news in terms of Lilja re-signing, other than that he wants a raise, and if Liljas head is getting a little big, might as well upgrade entirely and go with Salei. Wed lose a little bit on size, but wed upgrade in all other areas, particularly physicality and edge. Salei loves to hit and fits Detroits needs to a T. Also, there would be nothing of consequence in a deal between Detroit and Florida, and Martin just announced recently that there were "no untouchables" on Floridas roster.
-
The way I see it, if Detroit is after Salei, hell replace Lilja next season, so it wouldnt necessarily be an addition of Europeans. And I agree, I would definitely like to see some of our Euro forwards replaced with North Americans (particularly Hudler and Sammy) P.S. Alex Steen just re-signs to a 2 year, 1.7M per contract.
-
Yeah but hes only 27, has already had 2 20 goal seasons in 4 years and last year was 5th in the league in hits along with having 20 goals. Thats a steal, and a great rule of thumb in signing Dan Cleary. 4 years/10M?
-
Pierre McGuire is reporting that Ruslan Salei is attracting interest from several teams. Age: 33 6'1, 212lbs 63GP, 3G, 20A, 23pts, -3 Contract: 2 years remaining at 3M per To me, this is exactly the sort of trade that we should expect to see Holland making. Salei's name has yet to be thrown around in trade rumors, which is often times how Ken Holland works. The fact that Salei would NOT be a rental and is signed to what is and will continue to be a reasonable contract for a #4 Dman in todays market makes him Hollands type of guy. He would be a great replacement for Lilja, can replace Samuelsson on the 2nd unit PP, and provides the nastiness that Detroit has needed and has been looking for since the departures of Hatcher/Fischer. I know the "we need more Canadians" crew is gonna come out of the wood work on this one, but Salei is worth a look and would look nice paired up with either of Rafalski or Lidstrom.

Per IslandersTV TRENT HUNTER RE-SIGNS TO A FIVE YEAR CONTRACT Terms not yet disclosed

I want Kronnic back now. I have a feeling this guy is gonna come up huge for us in the playoffs.
