Its not controversial, Im just saying. With Lidstrom out, Id say its even worse for us. We just lost 30 minutes of playing time there. Our top 3 Dmen gone, and we're playing with 5 guys on the back. And frankly, none of Lilja, Quincey, Meech, Lebda or Cheli are anything better than #4s..on a good night. Just sayin..

OK, this should be Hollands to do list for tomorrow: 1. Sign Darren McCarty to a two-way contract. Thats it. Seriously. You dont f*** with Lidstrom and walk away from that. I dont care if Mac was a crappy fighter in his last years. Now doubt he come back to the NHL if only for one game to kick the s*** out of Laperriere. Do we play them again? If not, DMac better be on the roster next year.

Just a thought, but with our injuries, maybe Holland and Babs think it might as well be the time to give them more time and showcase them for trades..

Toronto should be the one robbing blind whatever team wants Kaberle. Im thinking the likes of San Jose, Chicago, and Carolina would/should pay up for that. Kaberles probably got the best contract for a defenseman of his calibre in this entire league. Good age, great player, even better contract. Toronto should trade him and land something big.

Really? In a perfect world your additions would be Stuart and Stoll? Honestly...(and this isnt a goalie war/bashing comment)...Hasek SHOULDNT come back next year, for the sake of the Wings future. Howard really needs to be eased into the NHL, and he cant do that if weve got Osgood and Hasek up here. Plus you never know how much longer Osgood is going to be playing like a capable starter, and we need to have a solid goaltender going tandem with Howard for at least 2 years..

Im not saying Lilja will be "moved", Im saying if we re-signed Stuart, we wouldnt re-sign Lilja. In which case, he can move himself..As for Sammy, Kopecky, and Hudler...well thats irrelevant cause theyre forwards and were talking Dmen here..

Holland says a lot of things. If a deal is good for your club, then you make it. Just because Stuart is a UFA doesnt mean hes a rental. I think Holland means rentals in terms of guys who just want to win a cup, and then return to their teams or test the market. Either way, Stuart could definitely fit into Detroits plans long-term..Ideally, if they trade for him then they'll re-sign him, making Lilja expendable..

And for those in South America -- thats 6:30pm!

For the pro-Brad Stuart camp, according to Spector, there were 3 Wings scouts at the LA-St. Louis game last night, apparently scouting Stuart..

Well IMO Markov was a little overrated as a Red Wing. Maybe its because he had a really big hit in one of his first games as a Wing..maybe it was because he played with Lidstrom. Ill give you that Markov might be a slight upgrade over Stuart in terms of defense, but Stuart is for sure an upgrade over Markov offensively. Stuarts got a good shot from the point.. Im interested to see what Stuart can do playing with a guy like Lidstrom.

The funny thing is...most Canadians and Americans are European by blood....

The only reason a heavily European team has never won a cup is because there arent as many Euros as there are Canadians. Obviously if you have a higher number of Canadians, you are gonna have a higer number of players who are better overall. That being said, I would like to see more Canadians on the team, because its easier to associate with them, IMO.

I think this'll set off a chance reaction. I dont think the veteran group will want to leave Howard out to dry, which will thus make them play a more conscious, smarter, tighter game defensively, which will then keep us out of a 3 goal hole, which will then motivate our forwards to gain a lead. This could be what the doctor ordered...
