Then we agree that Blake would make them even sicker. Could you imagine following up your first PP unit of Pronger and Niedermayer...with Blake and Schneider?? Thats just plain disgusting.

HAHAHA. OH MY GOD. Does anybody else know the restuarant Cheeburger Cheeburger in Birmingham (michigan)???? I met Robert Lang in person once...and guess what he was eating!!!!!! HAHA. Oh my god. I wish I was in Michigan right now, because I have a signed Cheeburger Cheeburger menu with Robert Lang's signature on it...

Dont kid yourself. Adding Blake to the studded Anaheim blueline where he would be a PP specialist would basically make them the best team in the NHL. As for the rumor, its been brought up by Eklund and thefourthperiod.com. Both of those sites pull a lot of s*** out of their ass just for publicity. Spector - one of the only reliable rumor commentators out there - called big time bulls*** on this trade rumor, as it makes next to no sense. The Ducks want a forward most, and bringing in Blake would eat up all their available space. Not to mention Burke has said many times already in the past week that hed be content to make only minor additions to his lineup..

I wouldnt be surprised if the fact that its the Flyers had something to do with it. Like it or not, Bettman is trying to do his best to make hockey attractive to the casual fan, a lof of whom are turned off by the "vicious nature" of hockey. The Flyers have done a tremendous job this season making hockey look like wrestling on ice this season, so I wouldnt be surprised if this was just one way Bettman is getting back at the Flyers..

I couldnt agree more. Ive been with you all season in saying we need to add some scoring, as Ive had a bit of a hunch all season long that our secondary offensive players have been overperforming, and would soon come back to earth. Particularly Flip, Sammy, Hudler, and Franzen. Ive actually started to buy into Clearys ability to be a top 6 forward, as he wouldve hit 25 goals on a full season, and probably 60 points - to me, thats what you expect from your 2nd line players.. In all honesty, I say do what it takes to land Hossa, even if that means Flip is going back...
-
Is it just because Flip is bigger than Hudler? Is that why everyone seems to think he should get a free pass? Sure hes got a decent defensive game, but that has been NOWHERE to be found the past couple weeks. Hudler has been crap lately this month too. Hes been worse. I understand that. But Im sick of people putting Filppula on some pedestal way up above Hudler...
-
You know what? I know Sammy sucks. But Im really sick of people overlooking Hudler and Filppula - particularly Filppula with the way he is idolized on this board - for not doing s*** when theyre 1) being given the ice time and 2) needed the most. This should be Hudler and Flips chance to take the opportunity to show what they can do and run with it. And what have they done? Next to nothing. And you know what else? The Filppula - Zetterberg comparisons really need to stop. In Zetterbergs 2nd season, if he hadnt broken his leg, he probably couldve hit 25 goals and 55 points at least. Not to mention he had over 20 in his rookie year alone. And that was when the Wings were even deeper than they are now.. That being said, management needs to take a look at whats out there, and the big, gritty, skilled, defensively responsible, goal scoring, playmaking, just-now-entering-his-prime winger thats wasting away on Atlantas roster needs to be in a Red Wings jersey ASAP. And Hudler AND Flip should both be on the table...
-
Theres no reason he shouldnt be called up for the next game. Even if hes nowhere near NHL level, hed fit right in with the way we are playing..
-
Whos Linds? And why isnt Lids number 1? Dont tell me hes behind Salming. Not only is he the best Swede, but hes the best Euro..Ever..
-
And I thought letting LA score 4 unanswered goals on us was going to be the wake up call.
-
Except for the fact that Atlanta would NEVER do that trade. Im gonna be ******* pissed if that 5M in cap space has goes by the wayside when its CLEAR we have depth issues.
-
Making lines? What the hell does making lines have to do with the fact that Lilja, Lebda, Quincey, Meech, and Chelios are NOT top 4 Dmen, or the fact that Homer, Hank and Datsyuk are the only 3 forwards worthy of top 6 minutes or ANY PP time?
-
Um, what? Sorry but thats ridiculous. He cant play the game for the guys. He has no control over the fact that 5 of his 6 defenseman playing tonight should never be seeing top 4 minutes, nor the fact that his goalie is playing suspect hockey, or the fact that his players wont do anything with the puck in the o zone.. Like I said, whats wrong with this team is that there are 9 bottom 6 forwards out there and 5 bottom pairing Dmen. Yet for some reason people seem to think we dont need to add a goal scorer and a top 4 Dman..
-
What games do you watch? Every teams fans get quiet when theyre down and seemingly out. Ever heard of the phrase "silencing the crowd"?? Its hard to get up when your team is down by 3 and not really caring about it. No big hits, no nice plays, no big saves. What exactly should they be cheering about? If the wings can get themselves up when theyre down by 3, is a little noise from the crowd gonna help that much?
-
We look like a team playing with 5 bottom pairing defenseman and 9 bottom 6 forwards...
-
Sorry, but a team full of veteran professionals not showing up for their 5th game in a row is certainly something to be upset about.
-
Jesus crisscross. 3-0? Do we really suck that bad?? How many games do we have to not show up for before it sinks in that we arent immortal??
-
Was that on the 5 on 3 or had it just expired? Im guessing as much since Downey is listed as being on the ice for the goal..

Kevin Allen discussion on Wings deadline moves
YoungGuns1340 replied to 2probert4's topic in General
I think some people expect him to come here and be some huge physical presence, but hes really not. That said, he is a gritty Dman and plays with a mean streak. From what Ive seen of him, hes a middle pairing defenseman. Hes got some decent offensive capabilities too. If we brought him in, Id expect him to be a slight upgrade over Markov in all areas of the game: physicality, offense, and defense. But only slightly so.. -

Brindamour is out for 4-6 months and it now looks like the Canes might be sellers. Which pisses me off because you know Carolina and Detroit will never trade, even though Cole is supposedly on the table and would be an incredible fit in Detroit.. -

For those concerned, the reason the Blues are looking to trade Jackman is because theyre deep on defense, but more importantly its because Jackman thinks hes worth 4M per year, and in a few words, JD doesnt. -
Last player with a 60 goal season was 1995-1996

You guys are talking like Washington's big problem is offense. Its really not. Semin and Nylander have been decent, as has Kozlov. Clark can pick up some points here and there as can Fleischmann. And Backstrom has really come on centering Ovechkin. Not to mention the goal scoring machine Dman that is Mike Green. In reality, they'd have a great offense if they had one more top 6 winger. Theyre actually a GOOD team this year, and have really started developing chemistry. Their biggest issues are D and goaltending. Their D is pretty young, but they really dont have any bona fide top pairing Dmen - and before you say Mike Green based on his offense, his defense is nowhere near Top 2 caliber. As for Kolzig, well hes had some rough outings and has been pretty inconsistent this year. Looks like age is catching up to him. Im going to say that if Ovechkin stays healthy - which is likely...hes no Sidney Crosby - then hell hit 64. -
Rafalski out with a groin injury; Quincey called up

Wow. That is one UGLY defense. Lidstrom, and a bunch of 5-7 Dmen. Well, folks. Nows the time we get a look at EXACTLY what our defense would look like if we have our #2 and #3 Dmen out for the playoffs again. Enjoy. -
I think this list is short-sighted. Alfie has only been more productive this year, than Heatley has. And Spezza on his one - even with good top 6 winger on his line, Im not sure hed be producing. I think most peoples lists are in terms of raw talent.
-
1. AO 2. Crosby/Kovalchuk 3. Kovalchuk/Crosby 4. Lecavalier 5. Iginla 6. Malkin 7. Thornton 8. Heatley/Alfredsson/Zetterberg 9. Gaborik/Datsyuk 10. Datsyuk/Gaborik In reality, this group may go 1-10, but 4-10 are all pretty close in my book. IMO, only Crosby, AO, and Kovy are in a league of their own when it comes to racking up the points. I love Spezzas skills, but Ive seen him go flat too many times without Heatley and Alfie. Its almost like he lives and dies with his linemates way too often, so thats why he doesnt make my list.
