False. Homer had 2 great years that consequently came when he was getting bona fide to 6 minutes, and not being buried on the 4th line playing big PP minutes a la Hudler. Homer started scoring when he got the chance to play with the big boys. No, he cant carry a line, but continue to give him good linemates and hell put the biscuit in the basket, because he is a 30 goal scorer on a top line.

Dom had a better outing than he has in a while, but IMO it still wasnt a starting goaltenders performance. Another game, another reason to keep Osgood starting the majority.
-
So youre creating an entirely new thread just to step up on your soapbox?

I agree. People are still holding on to this notion because for a while, all of our vets were 35+. Guys like Hank and Datsyuk ARE vets...but they arent in the twilights of their careers like the vets weve had in the past. I hope Minnesota keeps on going downhill, because a guy like Rolston is exactly the type we need.

When did I ever declare I was a fan of ozzies? Or is it just that you too recognize your argument is baseless? In fact, the only evidence you provided in your post was that Hasek had a .89 SV%, which proves my point more than yours. As Larry Murphy just said, he shouldve moved off the line to get in better position to nab those goals. Thats what happened with goal #1 and goal #3. Which leaves goal #2, which was a clear shot that Hasek saw all the way and STILL let the rebound go, and then proceeded to flop on his back leaving 80% of the net open. Im not saying that Hasek sucked tonight - he had a better showing than in recent games and he did make some good saves - but the fact of the matter is, he let in goals - at least one that is absolutely incontrovertibly saveable - that shouldve been stopped with better positioning and quicker reflexes. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with my logic that the Wings players arent going to be running and gunning after 2 games in 2 nights, and that your 2.5 million dollar goaltender should be picking up the slack, such as Mason did when the Preds got into penalty trouble.
-
That he should have had. That goal was weak. And if you didnt notice, we lost by one goal. Regardless of what Gritzzkey says with his hyperbole, that goal was still the difference maker and DEFINITELY took the wind out of our sails. I still think he shouldve had the last goal too, but Haseks glove has been weak all year.

The ENTIRE Wings squad played last night. What did Dom do? Oh yeah. In a game like tonight, Hasek needs to be the best player. Thats where the story ends and begins. Sometimes when youre worn out, you need your rested goaltender to come up big. He didnt. Case closed.

Mickey and Ken never dole out the blame. People need to take one look at Mason to know what a goaltender who plays a good game looks like. If Dom had played like Mason did tonight, I wouldnt be complaining. But there was a clear example of good goaltending (meaning, good positioning, good rebound control, good 5 hole coverage, etc), and Dom wasnt it. He shouldve had the 2nd goal without a doubt. Not to mention another lack of rebound control led Lidstrom to make a save that otherwise wouldve been a goal.
-
Yeah...because the Preds clearly dominated on their PP chances, going 1 for 7. Look where you want...neither team played well outside of their respective Penalty Kills. This game came down to goaltending. Detroit didnt play well. Nashville didnt play well. Mason made the big saves. Hasek didnt. Thats where the game was lost.
-
Chelios wouldnt have to make the save if Dom actually controlled the rebound. Much like Mason has done the whole game. Dom...you are a masterpiece.
-
Which method of support would you prefer? Record? Stats? Lack of Rebound Control? The fact that Mason has completely outplayed him?
-
When you look at the game, both teams havent been very good. Nothing too special defensively. Nothing too special offensively. This game has come down to goaltending and the PK. The PKs have both been good. The goaltending, however, has been more imbalanced.
-
The more solid Mason plays, the more I hate Hasek.
-
******* BULLs***.
-
Some people dont realize that you actually dont have to make dramatic saves if you keep your rebounds under control. Yeah, it looks like an unstoppable shot when youre flopping on the ground with a player whos got your rebound on his stick.
-
How the f*** can the whistle have gone that quick???? MASON DIDNT HAVE THE PUCK.
-
Yeah...hes had some pretty bad passes tonight. The most recent one leading to a good chance for the Preds where Lids was really slow in getting back.
-
Wings have picked it up...Surprisingly
-
Filppula has looked slow as molasses tonight.
-
I wouldnt be surprised if that were te case. The Wings played with little confidence in front of Osgood last season to the point where it was a noticeable difference in how the Wings played depending on who was in net. WEAK call, by the way.. Its official. He still sucks.
-
You just answered your own question. What can Babcock do about the schedule? Lets see how well the Preds would be playing after having to play 2 games in 2 nights + travel. By the way, it pisses me off what they said about Nashvilles schedule tonight. What was it....9 times so far where they play a team that has played the night before when theyve rested?? Thats bulls*** right there.
-
Proof that stats dont tell the story. Mason has played nearly a perfect game tonight. Hank killed the Preds and made a perfect shot short side, while Franzen popped one over Mason with only about 4 inches of space to do it. The Preds, on the other hand, have had all kinds of net to score on.
-
Our defenders played last night. Hasek didnt. Who should be helping out who? Word though, I dont think we have as much D depth as people say.
-
It hurts to watch Hanks goal, then Erats. The Wings did so much more work to get their goal...the Preds...ugh.
-
Doms been giving up too many rebounds.
