I know its sacrilege to say on this board, but it would help if Nciklas Lidstrom played like his old self. The reason the 2nd goal was scored last night was becuase Perry easily got behind Lidstrom and had all day to park himself in front of the net and get the tip. Stepping out of denial, Lidstrom is showing his age more than he ever has in this series. He's still solid out there, but his skating is costing him. And Lilja - our best shutdown Dman in the season - is gone. We're lucky Stuart has stepped up his game.

Its getting to the point where the Wings AT LEAST need to carry a guy on this roster who is a bona fide fighter. How can you look the other way when two of the last 2 guys to drop the gloves suffered season-ending injuries because of it? I like Ericsson a lot, but if he gets in over his head in a fight, losing him would be a ridiculous blow both now, and in future seasons. Its nice that he can take down Stafford and Perry, but those aren't even close to legit middleweights, let alone heavies. At this point, however, I don't think the fact that we're not big and mean is whats keeping us from winning. Its simply work ethic. When the Wings bring their game, they dismantle the Ducks 6-3, 4-1. When the Wings don't bring their game, they win by a goal, they lose by a goal, or they tie (which consequently gets counted as a loss )

Um, our 4th line IS a threat.

I hate when people use this cop out. The difference between what the Wings can bring, and what they brought, is the difference between the Red Wings, and a local high school team. Nobody is asking them to give 100%, but 60% tonight would've been nice. And thats all it would've taken to beat this team. Thats what I find so comical about this game. I honestly think the Blue Jackets could've beaten the Ducks tonight if they played with some tenacity. The lack of talent on the Ducks roster was obvious for the majority of the game tonight, yet their work ethic compensated when it counted.

I actually find this kind of funny, but it might be the sleep deprivation I've accrued over the past 48 hours. I mean, how does a team of guys, packed with talent, with the potential to move on to the next round of the greatest competition in sports, give up a loss to a team that didn't even play well? Really, the fact that Anaheim didn't play well needs to be highlighted. They were 100% beatable tonight. It just illustrates how piss poor we were tonight. I think we played better in the majority of our regular season games, and thats saying a lot.

I think this is only time in life where I won't be devastated if the Wings lose a Game 7. Not with an effort like tonight. They've half-assed not only the entire season, but half of the playoffs as well.
-
They won't, so get over it as soon as possible.
-
Shut up about Anaheim. The Wings were willing to go just as much as Anaheim. This team should get off the ice as quickly as possible and save themselves further embarassment.

What A ******* Joke Way to save all your intensity for the 20:00 minute mark.
-
Come on Datsyuk! Don't go another game without showing up on the scoresheet!
-
And THAT is the difference Rafalski makes.
-
There we go!
-
Well, if the Wings don't capitalize on this, they didn't deserve it.
-
Pretty much. If the Red Wings actually showed up tonight, fighting through the refs wouldn't be a problem.
-
Why can't I hear the ref blowing the whistle when Ozzie has possession of the puck? Is anyone else having that problem?
-
Datsyuk, GET RID OF THE PUCK.
-
This is as frustrating a game as it gets.
-
All because Datsyuk was thrown out of the faceoff circle.
-
You meant that dive? Nice try.
-
Wow. Just wow.
-
Ok. Im recording that time. 12:26 on the clock, and the Hossa is literally STANDING FLAT FOOTED while the puck is 3 feet from him, rolling towards him. Three feet away, and waiting for it to come to him. Story of this game.
-
This is agonizing and comical all at once. Brutal performance to the point where they look so discombobulated that its funny. This sad part is, again, Anaheim hasn't even played well this game. Thats how brutal the Wings have been. Lets get this patented Wings 3rd period comeback going.
-
Good shifts right there. If the Ducks sit back, we'll burn them. Still too many shots to Filler's chest.
-
This matchup talk is BS. The Wings can dominate any of this stupid pairings. Just wait. Im not usually the optimist, but the Wings are going to make 90% of the comments made about tonights game look ridiculous.
-
Then the Wings must be trying to force a game 7, too. The Ducks aren't getting away with murder. Theres no exterior force in this game that is preventing the Wings from winning - or scoring, for that matter. They're doing it to themselves.
