Two VERY WEAK calls. Especially the one on Franzen. There was no penalty there. -

I think its time to change that avatar, buddy. Can't be scared of a hockey team with its golfing shorts on. -

Note to commentator: Its not De-troy-it. -
Youre way off on Huselius "not having much of an impact" and for the most part, Tanguay too. Tanguay put up nice numbers and they wouldve been even nicer if Calgary had had Iginla and Conroy for the entire season. As for Huselius...I really dont know what you are smoking. The guy had a break out season, became a top performer in all regards, and had something like a 16 game point streak. He was absolutley unstoppable for much of the season. Nobody isnt giving the Ducks shutdown line respect. All three guys are awesome and Pahlsson leads the pack, but when the respect isnt coming the other way, you can expect responses like these.

Willa Ford says Modano has had a real tough season
YoungGuns1340 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
I hadnt heard that, but I wouldnt be surprised. I mean, injuries to Modano and Morrow or not, the team offense sucked year round. You cant blame Mike for wanting to go to a place that looked like it was making some quality improvements. Dallas didnt do much, other than lose Arnott and sign (woopdeedo) Lindros. Sure their deadline moves helped, but I cant imagine that team was much fun to play on throughout the year. -
Bertuzzi and Lang. This guys need to play huge and be huge. They're both really big guys, and if you add Franzen to that unit, its just a big mans line.

Wings Win! GO WINGS! -
Um, actually shutdown lines are always paired up against one singular line per team. And it wasnt just Langkow and Iginla...maybe youve also heard of Huselius and Tanguay?? As for it "not really happening" against Iginla and Langkow, you just PROVED you didnt watch ANY of the Detroit-Calgary series. Langkow, Iginla, Tanguay, and Huselius. Never posed a threat to the Wings on a consistent basis at all. In fact, Langkow couldnt buy a goal at even strength and one of his two whole goals came on a 5 on 3. Michalek-Thornton-Cheechoo, and Tanguay-Huselius-Iggy, are a bit different than Demitra-White-Gaborik and Sedin-Sedin-Pyatt. Not to mention youre accusing Detroits top line of letting Langkow and Iggy get 4 pts in 6 games, yet yours let Gabby and Demitra get 4pts in 5.

I was surprised how well Upshall did on the Flyers squad. Then again, thats what some decent minutes will do for you. He was really lost on the depth chart with the Flyers. I think hell develop into a decent hockey player. Good signing for Philly.

If Im close enough so that I can get on camera, ill bring a sign repping LGW.com.

The point is not everyone needs a 450k house. And my cousin and her husband just recently purchased a 2 bedroom townhouse in Huntington Beach for around 220k. Its not huge, but its nice. And if she or her husband gave two s***s about hockey, theyd be able to go to a game if they wanted. Although they might have to sacrifice a weekend trip to Vegas or two. FYI it took me about 2 seconds to find a house for 450k in Huntingon Beach (the area I know best in CA) on a real estate website.

Hasek and Chelios will be asked to re-sign with Wings
YoungGuns1340 replied to HockeyCrazy3033's topic in General
Whenver people talk about why Detroit needs to get rid of Chelios, the argument is always that "he's old." Thats it. As if age is the be all and end all of a hockey players talent. To be honest, if you looked at every other team in the league and plucked out their 6th defenseman, Chelios would be the cream of the crop. Old or not, hes still the best 6th defenseman a team could have, and at a bang for your buck at that. -
Wow, nice game by Ottawa. Im still waiting for the real Buffalo Sabres to show up. They can be a MUCH better team than they have been so far. They're probably the best skating team in the NHL, and yet they arent moving their feet as much as they can. At any rate, Im glad the Sens won.
-
I hope that was sarcasm. Id say they are pretty even. And what exactly has your shutdown line had to shutdown so far? A whole 2 guys per team?
-
Thanks guys. Im gonna try and start all kinds of crazy chants, depending on how drunk the people are around me.
-
Man, youd think most Ducks fans thought there was only 1 shutdown team in the entire NHL - Moen/Phalsson/Niedermayer. Maybe some of you dont know this, but Maltby-Draper-Cleary isnt such a bad shut down line either. I mean, 1 Selke winner and a few years as 2/3 of Team Canada's "shutdown" line isnt too shabby either, right? I dont think there is much underestimation of the Ducks on Wings fans parts - how could you really underestimate a team that boasts 2 of the 3 best dman for the past few years? - but there isnt much coming from the other way. Ducks will be the Wings hardest matchup so far...but the same can be said for the Ducks facing the Wings.

Red Wings and Maple Leafs ARE Hockey. Just kiddin..
-
Babcock is classy, but hes smart too. "I never coached Teemu, I never coached Scotty Niedermayer or Pronger, and I'd say they're pretty significant players," Babcock said Wednesday. Then again, some players are just so well known -- like those three and the Wings' Nicklas Lidstrom and Dominik Hasek -- that everyone in the hockey world is familiar with them. "You know, we play enough games in the league that I think you know the tendencies of the teams, anyway," Babcock said. "I got a lot of information on Giguere. ... It's like having information on Dom -- so what? You've still got to beat them. The bottom line is we're going to be prepared for them, and they're going to be prepared for us."

Zetterberg was the best forward in the entire NHL when he went down with his back injury. And thats not even a Homer comment. He had 28 points in his last 13 games before the injury and from the December 20th, when Datsyuk and Zetterberg were put on the same line and Sammy was bumped down, BOTH Datsyuk and Zetterberg took off with Zetterberg leading the charge from that date til he went down - ahead of Crosby, ahead of Lecavalier, etc. He is the player that, in most Wings fans eyes, can do no wrong on this Red Wings team - even moreso than Datsyuk. The Zetterberg that you see in this playoffs is a great player, but he is a shadow of his pre-back injury self. Hes been battling the flu for the last few games and is still injured. As for Selanne...who cares? We all know hes a great player and his name deserves to mentioned. You can be sure the tables would be turned if Zetterberg werent injured.
